"Positively Quiet"

I went ahead and finished this one.

I am so not finishing these in order of my making them! This is the last top I have finished. It didn’t matter. I was intrigued with how it would look as I had all that ‘not flat’ look in the top - around the cornerstones. Let me remind you with a photo.

I had to move him off the quilt as I was working on it a couple of times.

The whites I was using were all very soft and flexible and super soft - shall I say “well worn”. The cat loved sleeping on this sandwiched quilt!

Because of that I wanted to quilt this one heavily - in hopes that it will stay put a long time in spite of this.

They don’t hang quite as nicely when they touch the ground - as this one did. Sigh. But I really don’t want my line outside to be any higher! It’s high enough for the vast majority of my quilts that I do make. This one just happens to be long.

This one is a nod to our more reserved friends. It came on the heels of BOHO Chic, which, as one of you mentioned, would be considered the ‘life of the party’ of this UP Greens series should there be a big party with all of them present at once.

I do quilt these on my very own Janome 8900 right now - here it is in the process.

Here you can get an idea of how puffy it is as I work on it. The swirls and curls kind of force the top into submission and compression. You can also see how fluffy the batting is in this photo.

The quilt roll!

And here is a close up on the quilt roll.

It was on the “wettish” side when I took this picture. But, in spite of the wet weather, I was feeling the need to get the photos before I ended up folding the quilt and creating lines in it. I had needed my table for something else and moved it temporarily to another spot. At the time of the photo shoot, it wasn’t actually raining - but definitely overcast.

I am really quite pleased with how these greens tops are turning out in spite of my using all different shades of green together. It’s been an experiment in color and shades and value. As you can see here, there is everything from a lime green to a soft mint green and yet somehow, it’s all okay together.

The back is a heavily pieced big piece. I do have a couple of places where I had issues with the quilting and puckers. However, at this point, I’m leaving it. This particular back isn’t one that anyone is going to be spending a lot of time enjoying as it is hideous! Seriously ugly.

But it’s a back. And it is made up of all upcycleds which is what I’m trying to do with this series.

I know that some of you are wondering what is going on with me and this series. I am on a hiatus at the moment from finishing any of these or even making more of the greens tops. I do have plenty of fabrics, however, and have ideas for the next few - but it is on hold for now. I hope to get back to them ASAP.

The pattern is here - and I hope at least one or two of you can use it. It is just basically one block - which is not at all difficult to make. Overall, this quilt is quite easy - maybe I can even say, super easy to make.

In Review, the UP Greens series so far looks like this:

Have a great day wherever you are reading this! Stay safe!
