2021 charity quilts #101-110

The next ten quilts are here! Once again - all of these are large ones.

I took these over with the last few piles of them so I could be done. I loaded up the car with the final 35 quilts and took them in one trip.

I loaded this pile in this side of the van. I was very thankful for a large minivan (instead of a small car)!

Here are my totals once this group was added to the pile.

It was as I was trying to add these to the pile that I had a great big tumble. I went downstairs to get a group of quilts and when I came back upstairs, they had all just fallen forward.

Like this:

Oops!

And as much as we all think that quilts aren’t all that heavy…when working with “a lot” of them - they become heavy.

But I got my piles stacked back up there - if not great - at least they were up and here are 205 quilts. At this point, I’ve never had so many in the building at once. I’m glad I’m going to be having the give-away soon! Even if I just give away half of them - that will leave me plenty to give away at Christmas - and then later as winter gets worse - that is fine.

At this point, I have reached the highest my quilts will stack up without coming down - at least until I get a better foundation underneath them. So, after these, I will make a new stack for the last ones for this year. That’s not the best as it blocks the previous piles. Oh well.

At this point, the room is starting to feel a bit claustrophobic.

So, once again - here’s the progress of how it went from the first of September as I started to add to the piles I already had in earnest.

I can see that about 200 quilts is about all that will fit nicely in that room. But that’s okay as I hope to not have it all be long-term storage. We set up some of the main auditorium on Sunday afternoon with the chairs for Saturday’s planned give-away. We’ll see how it goes. Last time I had a give-away, it was scheduled for a certain Saturday and the DAY BEFORE they started a lockdown in whole country (March, 2020). Needless to say, I was so conflicted as to what to do!

Have a great day wherever you are reading this! Thanks for coming along with me on my quilting/sewing journey!
