Weekly Review of Ukraine Efforts

Last week we had some visitors from the states come in Monday - Tim and his daughter, Rachel. Tim has been here before and comes because he wants to take a trip to Ukraine with a load.

So, that was priority. Shopping, a trip, and working on boxes.

We also get really rolling on the boxes…I mean…rolling. I can feel the finish now. At least getting them opened! I am almost there. But once I get everything opened, I will still need to deal with everything that I’ve just been putting here or there. :) But to get all the boxes done will be wonderful.

So here goes -

Monday -

Tim and Rachael arrived on Monday morning while Lena and I Lena and I went shopping for this load which was going on Wednesday. They needed diapers, adult diapers, food, etc. We went to several places. I can say that I do look tired in the photo shown before (the middle one on the top below).

I really started feeling not well in the afternoon so I went to bed and let our guests fend for themselves. I had nothing for them to do as I slept.

Tuesday -

We loaded the trailer in the afternoon. With lots of help it went quickly.

Wednesday -

While Mike went to Ukraine, I stayed back and worked on quilts. A lady named Rachel and her friend, Lina, from Ukraine came to help. Rachel is staying at the church for a while now. We packed up and quilts and put some in our basement and took some to the church room where we put more quilts in after taking some out for the load that was on its way to Ukraine at the time.

After doing that work, I got a call later in the day asking if I could top off a load heading to Ukraine - so I headed back over in the evening to give quilts to this couple heading to Ukraine shortly after this photo was taken.

Thursday -

When the group got back early (1 am) in the morning from their trip, we took it easy first thing in the morning (til about 9 am), but then began shopping for the next trip. I had also ordered some things and they were coming in in abundance. This next load was going to focus on cleaning and hygiene items with only some food.

In the afternoon I also had a group at the house working on more quilt bundles.

Friday -

We had a group come back again and work on quilt bundles - esp. the baby sets. Our company, Tim and Rachael, were leaving in the afternoon.

When Mike took the guests to the airport, Lena, the blond, came back over to help match up pillowcases with quilts. She stayed for a couple of hours. I had worked on some baby quilt sets.

Saturday -

I had a crew of Rachel, Lena, and Lina and me. We worked hard and got a lot done.

Sunday -

The only thing we did in relation to this was to put the load that was in the van in the room at the church.
