UP Greens #32 "Giant Block" - Upcycled Greens #32 top finished

Here is a quick and easy quilt I’m calling part of the Up greens series.

I did manage to buy some second-hand duvet covers lately that were solid colors - I got them on auction. I was playing around this idea because I’m exploring ideas about easy but different and modern-ish charity quilts.

So this was one of those attempts. I wanted to see how easy it was - and how fast it would go together .

Oh - this took just a little while to put together! Seriously! These blocks are cut at 12.5” square so it’s just a 7x8 layout - It’s big, but a rather small queen - 84”x96”.

I prefer my queen size quilts to be 86” wide minimum as that’s what I’ve read is the smallest queen on some other lists I’ve seen.

But this would work well for charity quilts - really nice, in fact. I’ll work it up as the single size too.

Here is the layout for the large one -

And there you are - this one hardly counts, but I’m counting it as part of the series. I’m truly intrigued by the idea of such a simple design and think it would be quite popular for charity quilts.

Let me be clear - I did already have part of the green - the little bit darker green that I used in this - I almost used it all up as well - but the bigger pale green section was an all “new to me” - though second-hand - used - duvet cover.

I marked with red arrows the newly purchased light green duvet covers. However, when this series is all done, these will go with my solid fabrics and not back in the UP greens.

Have a great day wherever you are reading this! Thanks for coming along with me on my quilting/sewing journey!
