We had a whole crew here!

Unexpectedly we got another box on Monday. I say unexpectedly because May 2 is the day that is sandwiched between two holidays and normally not much happens on that day.

That left me with another 20+ quilts that needed to be all packaged up. I hadn’t been able to finish up the other ones because I had run out of pillows but I had some delivered to me on Monday and I found some at a local store like a Menards. So we had plenty to finish the quilts I had here - all the quilts that weren’t baby quilts, that is.

So, I did have a chance to have some Ukrainians here to help me. And help they did.

They got me caught up all on those packages AND I was able to almost get the baby ones all caught up as well. The baby sets are getting packed into boxes - we will work at sending these to Ukraine or children’s homes, or see if we can find new moms here. I’m classifying baby quilts as for 0-24 months.

After that, I’m just calling them children’s quilts and putting a kid-friendly pillowcase if we can to help people understand to give them to children. We are certainly enjoying the colors and prints on the quilts!

With the baby quilts we are including as a minimum a hooded towel and receiving blanket.

So here is what it looked like today. One thing - when I’m working as hard as they are, it is hard to remember to get photos!

One of the things I did was to take the finished bags and put them in the little trailer.

Once they had all been here about 3 hours, we decided to stop and take things over to the church and get them unloaded from the truck and trailer - with many hands it made short work!

We put them in the room, making the pile one row higher and another one on the floor.

It’s exciting!

Why would I choose the word exciting?

First of all, so many of you all have given so much of yourselves to make this happen and seeing it come to fruition in front of our eyes is as the book of Proverbs says, “The desire accomplished is sweet to the soul” (Prov. 13:19). Secondly, it is just the beginning of seeing these quilts ‘get into Ukrainian hands’. That is what we will start to do now - move these on out. For those reasons - well, it’s exciting to me. I guess I don’t have a very thrilling life, huh? Doesn’t take much to make me happy??? I don’t need a Tesla!

We couldn’t go one more row ‘up’ along the wall beyond the one more we did - as they all started to lean and fall towards the room. So, we started another row on the floor in front. I think we added about 85 quilts in cases to this room.

Oh, our new helpers today are each going to take one (they are refugees) - and I’ve been requested for 17 for a place about 2 hours from us here in Poland. They said they’d pay for postage. :) They will go to all their refugees.

Eventually then we treated our volunteers to McD’s for dinner. It’s a holiday - and we like to go on a holiday just to support them - but it was very, very busy. McD’s didn’t actually need our support. :)

We are thrilled to see a place nearby where friends can meet and sit and talk and eat. We’ve had a lack of that here in our area of Poland.

So here you go - my video sharing what’s we’re doing. I suppose you’d have to be new here to not know about this effort, but here’s a short video with some of the facts included.

So there you are!

Thanks for coming along on this journey with me!
