Quilted Twins

The Pillowcases are Packed up!

I know. It’s not much, but it is one more step.

I had three helpers today - Lena, Rachel and Josiah and together we counted all the rest of the pillowcases and put them in boxes with labels.

There were some leftover - as I was trying for even 100s so I can buy boxes of 50 flattened pillows to match. The leftover pillowcases will be used locally for our own charity quilt give-aways or to match up with any straggling quilts that are mailed to me from people around the world.

This is what I did when I labeled the boxes. I know - it’s all in English. I did it for us - so that we don’t accidentally toss a box of these into a trailer without accompanying pillows.

I ended up with 15 boxes. It appears that we put quite a few doubles in with quilts we packed up. I know we did it with almost all of the flannel pillowcases and many of the microfiber ones given to us.

After we got all the boxes out, I cleaned the floor once more and started putting more stuff away - picking up and dealing with leftover things.

I still want to clean up more tomorrow to my whole kitchen bar area - which is still covered with debris (exaggeration - it has wonderful goodies on it - from safety pins to ribbon and pens). I’m still cleaning up from this 5 month extravaganza.

Even though I have plans to still help Ukraine, I just can’t get as deep in the mess as I’ve been. My mind can’t go there again right away. I need time to catch up with my own stuff - including my own charity quilting and my own quilts I want to make and finish. I am going to do my best to help Lena get a job so she can start to feel settled - if this is where she is going to live. I didn’t want to help her earlier as I needed her help - how’s that for being selfish? (Lena is the blond.)

Thanks to all of you who gave ideas on what to do with the leftover pillowcases. I will definitely check into some of the ideas - for example, I don’t know how to make a backpack from one - but I’m sure there must be instructions on line. :)

You can see on the table - Ewa brought over some quilt tops her mom has finished - and on the right of the table is my kitchen bar - and it’s covered with stuff. I want to tackle that next so I can feel like I’ve cleaned up after the craziness. Under the bar are still some leftover things that I may put somewhere else until I find out what all I will or won’t need - some hooded towels, a few baby wipes and receiving blankets to be used in baby sets. The vinyl bags may be used by some of my own quilts which I may end up packing up and sending to Ukraine in a couple of months. We’ll see.

Thanks so much for coming along with me. Thanks for your encouragement - it means a lot - and thanks for reading! You all have been great!

I know- this sounds like a “I’m leaving” post - which isn’t true - just wanted to say a hearty “Thank you”. I am not sure it is possible to thank people enough who have helped!
