Weekly Efforts Relating to Ukraine Efforts

My husband went on Friday to the border - and he crossed it with our van full.

And that’s it. Other than that, I just ordered some things for the next trip - which is the last one we have planned for 2022.

This piece of paper gives a humanitarian aid ID number which allows the driver to skip the line going into Ukraine. Sadly it does not help when coming back into Poland.

Here’s the van after Mike came back. I didn’t take a photo before he went but it involved taking a generator, and 5 bags of bullet proof vests plus some food.

The document that is taped to the window means that Mike can take cuts to go to the front of the line at the border on the way IN to Ukraine. Sadly, it doesn’t help coming out.

On this particular trip, Mike and Tim, who flew over with the luggage full of bullet proof vests left at 4 am and got back about 8 pm, which was pretty nice for them! THEY also did the additional shopping to buy the food that they wanted. I did none of it! And that’s why I don’t have any photos - just the one of the van with the id number on the windshield after they came back.

Here is just a sample of some of the things I’ve ordered for the next trip. I will start getting these things on Monday and then I will take them to the garage at church so that we can load up the trailer next week before Mike goes.

Some wool blankets that arrived that will go on the next load. I am planning on sending all the rest of the quilt bundles we have in the garage at the church with this last trip for the year.

We are preparing to something big for a local Ukrainian refugee center as well - we’re going to have a Christmas party/program for them - including gifts for all of them. :) I’ll let you know more as it comes close. The party will be done completely by Ukrainians. We are simply facilitating it and working with those who are going to hold it.

This place is in the town where the church is - Otwock. It’s about 12 minutes or so from our house (by car) - not too bad, actually.

Currently at this place, there are 120 people including 52 women including 37 moms and 15 grandmas. The rest are their children. We’re planning on that to be held on December 22.

So far, Mike has taken 18 trips into Ukraine and we’ve helped local groups - 3 places that have housed Ukrainians plus given to other various places this year that were general collecting points.

We’ve also donated significant amounts to some various groups and/or people who were themselves taking things into Ukraine as we simply couldn’t move the amount of product we had been given by ourselves. Plus, by filling up other people’s vans, we are reaching a different group of people or different places other than people that we know. Here’s a screen shot of these trips and efforts that were large enough to be significant to write down.

And that’s it. In a few days we’ll be having a lot of boxes to carry to the church so both the van and pickup will no doubt be used. I’ll also buy some things locally that I like to be around here and order the rest of the things that need to arrive before next week.

Thanks for coming along with me on this journey! Have a great day wherever you are reading this!
