Meeting the Designers and "big whigs" at Quilt Market opened my eyes!

Designers

It was fascinating to walk around and meet up with the designers. I realized on Friday that they were just normal, ordinary people, like you and I are!

Some are fabulous and interesting speakers. Others haven’t taken a speech class, ever, and should be banned from trying to present their own work.

Here’s some pictures from some of the ones that we met up with!

Our most successful designer meet was with Loralie Harris, of Loralie fame! We not only love her fabrics and designs, we love her! We’re hoping to have her come and do a “show”  here for us here at Quilted Twins.

We met Jill Finley of Riley Blake. She has designed beautiful things, including the awesome GROVE line, which we have in a half yard bundle.

I met Tula Pink, but felt intimidated, so I didn’t chat with her. I just got my picture. I felt like she was not really needing or wanting to meet up with people that she’d see for 3 minutes and never see again in her life. So I didn’t fawn over  her. She is quite tall.

I met Brandon and Kaffe, and the personality in the bunch is Brandon. At Kaffe’s 85 and Fabulous birthday bash, Brandon was the one running around delivering cupcakes to us all! Kaffe, at 85, was rather subdued in his personality.

Patrick Lose of Patrick Lose fabrics, now under Northcott, was incredibly down to earth. He sat with us and showed us his new lines. I wish I could carry them all. Unfortunately, I don’t have that many, but buy whatever I can.

Andi Metz is the gnome Genius of Benartex. She showed off her amazing designs and I actually won a nice collection in her “show.”

Donna Robertson of 3 yard quilt fame, is an exceedingly down to earth lady, as is her daughter, Fran.

And of course, Annie of ByAnnie fame, was incredibly busy, and hands on in her business. Because of that, we met her, thanked her for her part in the By Annie Contest, and let others take up her time.

I talked Briefly to Scott Fortunoff, but that’s when I realized just how big some of these guys are, and he didn’t really have a clue who I was. It’s amazing how much we can think we know someone, but they don’t have a clue who we are!

We met up with the new owners of CHOICE fabrics out of Tennessee. It was great to put a face to their voices and names.

I met up with Kim from Kimberbell, and boy was she kind. She explained what they do and it was great! If only I had tons more space!

Judy Gaither, from a quilt shop up north, but also a designer for StudioE was fabulous. She even offered to come and teach her really amazing umbrella class for us!

Kaitlyn Kuebler and Leanne Anderson were incredibly willing to meet with me and talk, but of course, didn’t offer to come to Florida! Some of the ladies are just too busy.

All, in all, it was a fabulous experience. I’d do it again in a heartbeat.

I’m really appreciative of our team back home, who worked extra to make it all possible or us to leave.

This was our final shot at the show, before leaving!

And that’s it - I hope you’ve enjoyed these photos from our days at Quilt Market. There should be one more post coming …but of quilts - which we all love to see….but we’ll save it for a future date.

Thanks again, Rachael for sharing.

And thank YOU for coming along with me on this journey of ours!

Have a great day wherever you are reading!
