Decision is in - Card in Hand!

Card in Hand!

On Friday I was able to go to the Center for Foreigners in Warsaw and pick up my new temporary residency card - 3 years. This one expires on August 28, 2025. I also picked up the paper copy of the ‘decision’ which goes into a file folder that we keep of all this kind of documentation.

Yeah!

I went to Warsaw on the train this morning and picked it up at this address. Rather sad looking building, huh? This was screen shot from google maps but that is what it looks like.

Then I went over to a store here in Warsaw and paid for a long-arm that I’m getting from them!

It’s a second-hand one - but used under 100 hours.

They should be able to deliver it a week. I’m hoping for that anyway!

The room is ready.

The quilt bundles are being distributed. We will have the rest of the bundles in the hands of Ukrainians by the middle of November - I will see to that. We have plenty of people wanting them - it’s just been a matter of when and where should they go. Mike took a bunch on this last load. We’ll send more small ones on the next load - will especially seek out the children’s ones. Then, we possibly have yet another load going in early November. We’ll see about that.

But we have a couple of people with vans who could just come and get the rest and we could be done. I’d really like that. Don’t get me wrong. I love looking at these in that room in the back, but we all know we didn’t do all the work and spend all that money in order to keep a room full of quilts in our back room of our church!

No way.

Especially since everyone says this winter will be rough without enough blankets and warmth for peoples’ homes.

This time around the room isn’t nearly as well packed. But that’s okay as we are planning on shipping these out within the next 30 days.

Since I now have my new card, it goes completely off my radar as something to think about for quite a while. Now I can get back into the swing of things full speed ahead without constantly wondering what’s going to happen to me. I mean, with the war in Ukraine, that is a valid question, but for completely different reasons.

If you have been praying for me through this journey - thank you. Now we can praise and thank the Lord together.

Long Arm Prep

And that leaves me time to focus on this long arm - which I will discuss at length in another post. I’ve told my sis that long-arms are like cars and regular sewing machines - everyone has an opinion about which one is the best.

My choices were limited by asking these questions - which one meets my basic requirements and which one is available here in Poland?

Now to actually plan out this room with a long arm.

Any advice?

What other machines should go in there? A computer? If you have a long arm and a separate room from your regular sewing machine, I’m open for advice.

Please put it in the comments below or in Facebook comments.

Oh - and one interesting thing - today I was talking with a lady at the store where I paid for the machine - we were waiting on Roman, the guy who was going to swipe my card - and I started talking with a lady that works there. She asked me why I needed/wanted a long arm. I told her that it amounts to old age and physical wear and tear. I then explained that my left wrist had started to hurt me - well not hurt, but rather, I felt it when I did a lot of quilting.

She sews all day long too. She gave me two exercises to do with my hands. I will start doing them now and see if I can strengthen these wrists of mine. If they seem to work - I’ll show you some time in the future. She was really kind, though, and understood exactly what I was talking about.

Have a great day wherever you are reading this! Thanks so much for coming along with me on this journey! I appreciate you!

And don’t forget those pointers or words of advice for what machines should go in the room if you have any.
