2022 Charity quilts #41-50 finished! Amen!

Yes - after sitting in an extra bedroom which functions as a guest bedroom, quilt storage and fabric storage, these quilts which were quilted but not bound, washed, and photographed, have finally been finished!

Yeah. Progress. I realize that I’m still back in May as these should have been finished back then - if I’m doing 10 a month.

But other things had precedence. You know that if you’ve been reading here.

Now most of these I actually didn’t put together - Ewa’s mom and Ewa did. They are Fran’s centers. I did CUT the fabric for the borders, but then handed them over all packed up together for them.

Ewa quilted several of them. I did the brown one in its entirety - and that may be the only one. I quilted all the ones that are quilted through every block both directions. Ewa did the others. It was a big help earlier. Now she’s busier than a one-harmed paper hanger, so no time!

I did notice some color running in a couple of these quilts as I was hanging them up.

That is disappointing, however, I may try washing them one more time - and letting them air dry - but even if they have colors that have run they can still keep people warm AND I know that the back side is beautiful. I am aware that many people actually are using these quilts as 100% reversible - so I have no issues with still offering a quilt that has colors that have run.

After having an incredibly dry summer, our fall has been wonderfully wet. This leaves the ground a bit on the damp side - so I brought the box out to set the unphotographed quilts on.

I won’t need to take these quilts to the church and put them upstairs, however, as these quilts, in their entirety have already been requested.

Yes. They have been asked for already. In fact, one lady needs about 15 - and here are only 10. I do have the next 8 done as well, but with charity quilts, I work in lots of 10, so she can’t have 15 yet as they’ve not been photographed. :)

Guess I better get busy on the last two of the next group, huh? I haven’t wanted to buy a roll of batting yet for various reasons - but I may actually break down and do it soon.

I just went and examined all my leftover larger batting pieces, however, and I think I can get two more charity quilts from the pieces I have. I’ll use them up before buying another roll. Then I can photograph the next 10 and give away about 5 of them. Then, another lady I know requested one for a lady she met in the hospital and I promised one to her. That doesn’t leave many.

The needs are great. Very great. If we have a harsh winter, people will be needing lots of quilts as the price of heating has about doubled this year and the poor people might not be able to afford it. If we can get the right people the quilts, they will be able to snuggle down into a quilt or two or three and stay warm til the days are warmer. Poly batting is warm - so that is a big plus.

I’ve got a whole pile of quilt tops ready to get going on that last 62 for this year - in many ways thanks to many of you!

Have a great day wherever you are reading this! Thanks for coming along with me on my journey!
