Can I quilt 90 quilts in 31 days?

I threw this idea out there a few days ago. I think I’m going to try.

I’m going to try to quilt 90 charity quilts in 31 days - August. I’d like to make a huge dent in these charity quilts that I’ve had hanging over me. So, while just thinking about it isn’t getting them finished.

So…here goes.

I recently did do one thing which makes it possible and encourages me get them done and that is that I made room in my storage room at church. It had been quite a mess and there wasn’t any place at all to put any more finished charity quilts until I actually cleaned it up and out.

At first I couldn’t even walk into the room.

I had just piled tops in there - in bags.

There was also quite a few things that others had put in there that I didn’t want in there. Most of it I put elsewhere.

I also made my way to the empty storage tubs down next to the floor and was able to put tops in them which then emptied out many of the big bags I had.

After - Now at least I can walk to the cabinet where a lot of tops are stored. There is floor showing! It’s good enough for now!

Also, I really need to get going on more charity quilt labels. I did get out the embroidery hoops and am getting ready to get start started on those.

The machine is recently back from the shop so hopefully will work just fine. I am almost out of the ones I did in 2020.

It is great that I did so many years ago. I’m sure most of you don’t remember it but I had COVID-19 back in early September of 2020 and afterwards I was so tired (I had been pretty sick!) but I still wanted to do something. The something I did was watch my embroidery machine work for a week while I gained strength.

I made many, many labels at that time. I am down to one from those plus three larger ones that are older for a total of 4 labels left.

Let me see if I can find a photo from back then. I found four!

I had used up most of my not so great fabric back then for all those labels, but was given a whole paper grocery bag of white fabric (tablecloths) appropriate for embroidery work - so I can continue to make labels. No excuses.

So, I’m getting going on those as well.

So here’s my goal -

I want to finished quilting (and trimming) 90 charity quilts by the end of August.

There. I’ve written it down.

I’ll keep you updated.

And thanks for coming along with me on this journey.

Have a great day wherever you are reading!
