Quilted Hearts…Again

So I made another set of hearts and got them out. It is far easier to do this in the summer here in Poland than in the winter, I suspect. Lots of people are out and about and not in a drastic hurry. So, there are lots of what we could call “potential takers”.

As I’ve mentioned before, I am trying to make sure there aren’t little strings on the hearts when I photograph them, but sometimes I don’t even notice them until I see these photos, which are larger than real life. :)

I am now doing all my buttons with the machine - so that’s a big improvement. I wouldn’t be using so many buttons on these if I weren’t.

I also have started gluing what the paper crafting/journaling people call “cabochons”. That’s a word I’ve learned while doing research into beading and paper crafting. The reason I’ve been doing that was to learn more about embellishing these little things.

I’ve never embellished a quilt, so there has been a very steep learning curve here.

I have dabbled with a few of the things before - but many of the things were years and years ago - maybe 30+. I did have a supply of beading needles already, for example. However, I did buy some bigger and longer ones. Also some that split in the middle for my aging eyes.

I am trying to be sensitive to the fabric on these hearts. I am finding I would like to do them in small batches, though. For example, that last one - make several soccer or football themed ones. However, I made this one as a one-off.

These cat pieces were small so I made the hearts small. In the future I may just make a piece of patchwork out of them - and then make the hearts. It is far easier to decorate a bit larger heart than these tiny ones.

Once again - “my colors”. These are what my heart naturally leans to.

Through quilting, however, I have totally learned to embrace the browns. I would say that now I really also like these colors - albeit I am not naturally drawn to them. For the purposes of decorating these hearts, however, I’m enjoying the browns, burlaps, jute, and other woodsy themes.

This all green one was a challenge. I really did want to spice it up a bit.

When I found those little tiny bottles of something at our local store Action, they looked cute. I decided to just attach them to a heart. I’m not actually sure what they are - I think they are paper crafting “shaker” materials.

I decided to add a baseball charm to the baseball hats fabric. Then, a tractor seemed appropriate. Not sure why. Probably the colors.

Back to my safe space/colors.

I’m learning how to add a few charms to these.

The first of these I made with rhinestones (glued on), I thought they were amazing. Now that I’ve made others, I probably won’t make these much anymore. Instead I will save the rhinestones as emphasis on other prints.

Making a quilted heart out of heart fabric - so perfect. And finding these heart beads to add to it? Just wonderful!

I’m almost out of all of these brown burlapy looking ribbon. I’ve found it very handy and am missing it already! I had a pack of 5 different ones - purchased last Christmas.

This garden one was cute - the fabric is adorable.

Another heart out of heart fabric. I think I had 5 or so - maybe only three are shown this time.

I hope that people who like these themes find them.

I suppose I should start going in a few different places. I’ve been saturating - well not exactly, as all together our little town has about 18,000 people and the town of Otwock - maybe 60K - so putting out 100 isn’t exactly flooding the place. However, I’ve put them in a few favorite places. Why those places? Well, for me they are easy - places I go to and places I know many, many people do as well.

I’m getting braver at putting them out, however. So that’s something!

Oh wait - one minute. I’ve been busted by my neighbor. I got a message on Facebook- and she sent me this photo - She told me she has found some of my hearts and they have a nice home with her! YIKES!

Now these are ones I left in the woods behind our house - and apparently either she found them or her son did who takes their dog for a walk in the woods.

So I will try different places - am finding some very busy but good spots. What I mean by a good spot is where these things will be found and taken shortly after I put them out. It helps me to know if they are taken quickly so if the weather turns bad - or rainy - well, I have the comfort of knowing these things quickly found a new home.

Thanks so much for coming along with me on this journey!

Have a great day wherever you are reading this!
