Red/White/Blue Basket Weave top finished

I did put my mind to this and get going on this top. I wanted to FINISH.

I was tired of having this one on my plate - even though it was not a big deal or difficult at all to do.

First I made up the last of the blocks.

Then I made strips in the correct lengths.

Then I put them on the floor to check it out.

Then I sewed them all together.

Then I pressed well and put it on the floor for a photo.

I then marked the edge where I am going to trim. I used a washable marker.

Then I sewed just on the inside of the washable line.

Then I trimmed it to the final size.

Do I like it?

Absolutely.

It is such a simple idea but as a final top - really quite nice.

This one finished at right at 60”x80”.

I used strips from my bag of 1.5” strips - and pulled out anything I thought might work. I did end up looking in my reds for something I could cut up since I didn’t have much appropriate in that bag. But just three fabrics were cut up that way.

The blues, especially, are made up of quite a variety of fabrics. But in total, there are second-hand shirts, duvet covers, some tiny florals, a couple of children’s fabrics, Manchester United curtains, and really just a wide variety. I think someone will like the variety, even if it violates some of the rules of the Quilt of Valor quilts. As such, I’m not sure what I’ll do with it. For now, it’s folded up and put with my tops to be quilted.

Once again - here is the layout of the size I made. Each of the blocks are 7.5” square before being sewn into the quilt.

Thanks again for coming along with me. I do appreciate you!

Have a great day wherever you are reading!
