Test Pattern #49, Revised, part 2
I did manage to get to the machine and make these 72 blocks. I know. It was a struggle, but I did.
I’ve been just going one day at a time this month so far. Just trying to reach “today’s goal” without doing too much more than what I had to do.
We’ve had my birthday and just a couple of days ago, we had my husband’s birthday, so these things did take a bit of time.
We went to a restaurant in Warsaw for my husband’s birthday. He got ribs and I got fajitas. I did forget to take photos of the main dish. We did get a nachos appetizer to start, and this is the only photo I got from the meal.
I did get a couple of photos of the decorations on the wall, however. I had to smile at the John Deere one since my dad was big into John Deere. The restaurant was called Jeff’s Steakhouse- I think. Or Else Jeff’s American Restaurant. One or the other.
ANYWAY…..
I first made my set of strips .
Then I trimmed them by cutting off 2” segments.
Then I put the blocks together.
Once I got them all together and pressed, I put them in my bag along with the other ones I made previously.
Next I think I’ll take it very easy. I’m in the middle of these charity quilts and so I am feeling a bit torn as to focus.
So, I’ll go back to the main block shown here.
Then I think I’ll do the large half square triangles.
Shown here.
So I will need to make 128 of these. So I will need to go find some 6” squares of low volume squares and some 6” squares of something bold - somewhat “blender” vibe-ish. I will probably do them where I will sew them right sides together just to the left and write of a center marked line (probably pressed in). Then I will cut in half and then trim to 5” square. they will finish in the quilt at 4.5” after all the seams are sewn and the block is sewn into the quilt.
At this point I will have all the pieces I need for this block. At least as far as I’ve been able to figure. I am giving myself a whole week to do it. I will stay away from yellows as the bolds since I will be using yellow in other parts of the quilt. top.
I know I’m taking this one slow, but at least I am making tiny steps forward and that is great news to me.
