Americana favorites
With Memorial Day here today in the USA, I thought it would be good to share some of the what Quilted Twins has to offer you, the customer and quilter, what we have available.
But before I get started - if you have lost a loved one while serving in the US military - this day is to honor your loved one. I remember when I was just in elementary school in Washington state, our school had a special memorial flag raising event and talk outside in honor of the fallen. I don’t remember much else about it - I was quite young. Anyway, it certainly did stick with me.
Since the USA has about 3 of these types of holidays - Memorial Day in May, July 4th and then Veteran’s Day in November - all with a more or less patriotic color theme - I thought it would be a good chance to remind you of the fabrics that we have that could be a great jumping off point for a quilt for such an occasion.
I’ve done this before, so I don’t want to feature everything again, but let me choose some of my favorites.
First of all, Rachael has some bundles featuring these themes. They are here.
Then, panels make a statement and people tend to like them. Here are some amazing ones.
Then, normal width fabric in our $6.99/yard price range. These are titled “Pat—”. These are also marked down to $5.99 through Monday night!
Then, we have more expensive fabrics with this theme - Here are some of my favorites of those.
We also have a few precuts from manufacturers - here they are.
Then, last, we have backing with this theme. Here are three that I like.
Then, just for your enjoyment, let me share probably my favorite patriotic quilt I’ve made so far - and that’s this one - Americana Stars - and I made it after watching this You Tube Video. I just took notes while watching - After making it and another similar one by Karen Brown of Just Get It Done Quilts (a stack ‘n slash type design), I think I could come up with one of my own. Just not yet.
I know it’s not my typical blog post - but I hope you have a wonderful, reflective day (those of you who are Americans) as you remember those who have given their lives for freedom.
Thanks for coming along with me on this journey.
Have a great day wherever you are reading.
