World Jigsaw Puzzle Competition Ongoing!

World Jigsaw Puzzle Competition - September 21-24, 2023

Did you realize that there exists such a thing as a World Competition for how fast you can put a jigsaw puzzle together?

My sis asked me how I learned about such totally useless information! LOL

Yes, they’ve made a peaceful and calm activity (and relaxing) into a competition. A world series of sorts. An Olympics for the puzzler.

Well, it’s going on today and through the weekend in Spain. I’m going to be tuning in as often as I can while doing other things.

I do not just sit and watch people put together puzzles - but I have started following a You Tuber called Karen Puzzles - she used to do crafting and puzzling videos. She stopped doing the crafting ones and instead, her puzzle channel grew bigger and bigger and now she’s doing it pretty much full time, I think.

Anyway…for once, we will be in the same approximate time zone here in Europe - since it is taking place in Spain so I am going to try to spend time watching as much as possible.

In case you are wondering - The first session is Thursday morning European time which happens to be something like 4 am EST in the states. ;) But they have sessions off and on all day. This link I just gave you gives the schedule.

Well, - before I go any farther - the federation was only started in 2019, so it is a relatively new thing.

In case any of you are avid puzzlers, here’s a whole group of puzzlers - your kind of people! My kind as well. I enjoy jigsaw puzzles.

Remember? We did the one of the city of Jerusalem - last winter.

I grew curious - and decided to see if Amazon sells some amazing puzzles featuring sewing machines or fabrics. (The Amazon links are all affiliate links.)

They do! Let me show you a few.

500 piece puzzle called Sewing Store Companions -

This 1000 piece puzzle is by Lavievert - and is a wooden jigsaw puzzle.

And here is a Sewing Shed puzzle! Also on Amazon

The Quilted Twins store has 4 different jigsaw puzzle pieces fabrics in stock.

They can be used as hobby pieces but many use them to support autism as they have chosen the jigsaw puzzle piece to represent it and to help bring awareness to the condition.

So here are the fabrics we have.

BUT WAIT!

We are getting in several jigsaw puzzles that feature sewing machines or sewing rooms or fabrics on them in the store in 2 weeks.

They make great presents for your quilting or sewing friends AND fantastic activities for quilt retreats or get-togethers with your friends. So…2 weeks - they will be in the store if you are local. I’ll ask my sis to put them on the site if at all possible! :)

So….how many of you enjoy doing jigsaw puzzles for a break from piecing or sewing?

If you do - be sure to check out the World Championship going on right now and cheer for your favorite team or competitor!

Thanks so much for coming along with me on this journey!

I hope you learned something today! I mean, who already knew about this particular championship? I really didn’t - until very recently!

Have a great day wherever you are reading this!

Be sure to check out what my sis has for you in the store here!

Feel free to browse the site.
