“Fly by Night” - nr. 2
I made 5 of these panels called Fly By Night - and have been finishing them up one by one in the last few days/weeks.
Here’s the next one.
I had shared the first one last week - and will share one of these each week until I have all 5 shared here.
The layout is here -
I took these photos in late January or early February.
I found that it was harder for me to get the lighting right with the snow so I waited until it all melted and then started taking pictures and more pictures as I had finished several quilts while we had snow on the ground.
Once again - I mentioned it before, but since I had to make 5, I pulled out all of the fabrics from my shelves that I thought would blend or match well. I knew I needed to make the tops scrappy and different from one another but not TOO different lest one of the girls get one that wasn’t as pretty as the others.
I chose different inner and outer border colors. I left the black the same on all and obviously the pointy outermost border blocks are all different from one another. The scrappy bindings were actually made at the same time as the quilt tops and just waited in my sewing room for me to finish up the quilting. None of the bindings are the same either. The backings are all the same, however. I didn’t want tears over one having a prettier backing than the other!
Early morning sunshine brightens the colors.
I did make these interesting border blocks. At least I like them. I hope they do.
The girls’ moms - (Sarah and Jessica, who both work at Quilted Twins) will have to decide which will be for which girl. (Sarah is Rachael’s daughter and Jessica is my daughter in law.)
This is now the second in this series. Here is the series so far.
Here’s the quilt roll.
My pictures are not doing these quilts justice. Hopefully my son, Tim, can give me some more lessons on my camera when we gets here later this year as he takes beautiful photos. :) My other son told me that purples are actually not the easiest thing to photograph.
And now you know. If you are wondering what I think - I haven’t found myself being drawn to one or the other - I think all five are equally pretty. I hope it works out that way for the girls.
Thanks so much for coming along with me on this journey!
Have a great day wherever you are reading this!
