"Florida Isle" - an All Florida Shop Hop 2024 quilt kit

Here’s one of our designs that is quite simple - once again!

It’s an Around the World design with carefully placed fabrics to create the impression of an island (or maybe it’s a castle with a moat around it). Now we know it’s not an island or a castle, but rather, a peninsula, but I thought the effect was cool nonetheless.

We named it “Florida Isle”. This quilt features all of the 2024 All Florida Shop Hop special fabrics in the collection.

This is for the person who really likes a simple design, but with a bit of pizzazz.

Your eyes will have plenty of places to go on this one as they flit here and there checking out all the details of the designs of the fabrics.

Rachael pieced this one for us and Jeff and Diane Hissong, long-arm quilters from Lakeland, quilted it.

Please note - all of you who have doubts that Rachael ever makes quilts - let this little show of quilts assure you that she has and does occasionally make a quilt!

I know it is hard to see it but we had them quilt it with lightning and clouds - for Florida, of course!

OK, so this is what happened with the quilting. I wasn’t on line at the moment, so Rachael told me she had told Jeff and Diane to just quilt it with an all around stipple since the fabric is so busy. She knew it would be hard to see no matter what we did.

But I said, “Horrors, no! If we are getting someone to long-arm quilt it, by all means, not a simple stipple - please - let’s do something Florida-ish”. So I quickly searched to see if I could find some lightning bolts or clouds or something. I found something I liked. Rachael wrote them back (they were on their way home with the top), and Diane suggested this one. I loved it even better than what I had found. So that is what they used.

My reasoning is this - “Why not give those people who stand in the store and stare at the quilt something to notice?” I thought it was good enough anyway. So there you are - that’s why this one has clouds and lightning and not stippling on it.

Once again, my son, Tim, was in Florida at exactly the right time to get some photos for us. Thanks, Tim!

We went with a bright, colorful backing - oh so pretty!

This design has every single one of the special print designs for the All Florida Shop Hop. The only blender we used was the blue. And it worked perfectly, in our opinion!

But that’s not all for today!

We are also offering kits for this Boxed Cosmetic Pouch.

This adorable bag finishes at 7-1/2" x 6" x 2-3/4".

You will get a kit that will include

  • enough fabric (outer fabric which is white plus 2.5” squares and lining) for two of these adorable small-ish cosmetic bags,

  • 2 zippers,

  • the pattern, and

  • 2 bonus charms (surprise!) for the zippers

All for only $10 for the kit. Orders yours here!

The kit does not include interfacing, thread, or fusible fleece.

Thanks, Tim, for the photos!

It’s adorable!

I think there are 13 different items in this large envelope.

Oh - I made this here in Poland and the bottom picture is what it looked like before it made its journey across the pond in this envelope. I think it did admirably well considering what it had to go through on the journey.

Thanks so much once again, for coming with us on this journey!

Have a great day wherever you are reading.
