"Double Irish Chain" - Blue and White

Remember I wanted to explore a whole series of Irish Chain quilts? A while ago I wrote about it.

I want to do a series of quilts featuring the various Irish Chain looks and be able to share it all at once with you all. Obviously I can’t do them and then wait to share them all in one blog post - that would simply be TMI at once. I wouldn’t expect you to even absorb it.

This Double Irish chain is drawn up here. I am showing you the mockup with both a white center and also the dark center. I am planning on making both of them.

I used 2.5” strips - so it’s quite scrappy. I hope you enjoy it.

As usual, I like chain quilts and as such, I really do like this one.

This one has a blue/white/blue look to the chain.

I made this top earlier this year and did finish it up in April/early May.

Let me just share with you the pictures I took.

Since the blocks are based on 2.5” strips, they finish at 2” squares so the blocks are 10” finished.

The free pattern is written up and is available on the site. I hope someone can use it.

Here is how it would look if you chose to use black instead of white. I could put a variety of colors in there, but as you know - that could never end. Maybe you could use green or yellow - all would be interesting.

Thanks so much for coming long with me on this journey!

Have a great day wherever you are reading this!
