Another Box from Fran!

I got another box the other day from Fran! Such a surprise. She is really going to town with these quilt tops!

Fran is a senior lady who lives in Arizona, USA, and who has been faithfully making tops for me for years and years now. We finish them and give them out locally.

It was actually before 8 am when I got the phone call from the Post office courier who said he was on his way with a box.

Mike had already been out of the gate so the gate was open so it wasn’t a big deal. I do have to pay a little fee to get it. They call it a handling fee. I think it is because when it comes to packages the sending country gets to keep all the fee. This way the Polish post office gets to keep something just to help cover their costs. Anyway, this is what I THINK it is. They started establishing this extra fee in 2022, so it is a kind of new thing for us (that is compared to all the time we’ve lived here since 1994 without this extra fee).

For most of our years in Poland we could get packages for free from the states. Now, if it is bigger than a regular letter, we give them something. This guy has been so nice through the years, however, I’ve given him a little bit extra just for being so nice - like a tip. He doesn’t ask for anything, though. Most of the time the tip is just the difference between the actual cost and what I round it up to be so he doesn’t have to dig around for change (about 35cents). This time I gave him an extra couple of dollars.

That doesn’t matter. I wanted to show you the tops I got.

Here are the small ones.

13 small ones

Here are the larger ones.

8 medium ones and 2 large quilt tops

I packed all the tops back in a bag and they are ready to head to the church and the room where I’m keeping tops just so I can have room to work on the ones I am working on here at the house.

All together Fran had to pay quite a bit to ship this box. But I guess that’s not surprising anymore is it? Prices have gone up so much for pretty much everything - except my sister’s fabric prices - her great fabric, name brand novelties and colors - many, many are still only $6.99/yard!

But you knew that, right?

I’m sure you did.

If you haven’t, you should check it out!

If you still want to make charity quilts - especially quick and easy, be sure to check out some of these panels that Rachael still has at a great price! Let me show you! These are all either $5 or $6. Think how inexpensively you could make some sweet charity quilts! If you click on the picture it should take you to the panel. I mean…these are CUTE!

Thanks so much for coming along with me on this journey!

Have a great day wherever you are reading this!
