Finally Finished - a Simple Quilt -

I bought these fabrics back in 2019 on our trip to Kyrgyszstan. I then chose some of my favorites and made this top up quickly and then put it on my stack of quilt to get quilted. When I finally got down to the bottom of my pile of quilt tops here at the house in 2026, this was one of them.

I followed roughly a design I had seen somewhere. The official name of the first one I saw was Shenandoah, but this one isn’t that exact pattern. I had seen Donna Jordan do something similar, which I found and it is here on their website.

The pieces were cut taller and wider as you go from the center to the edges.

I chose to not use any white in this quilt and probably will not use white with any of the fabric I bought there as this floral print ran and ran when washed. I think I washed this fabric 4 or 5 x before I made this top - each time with color catchers.

Overall, while finished, I didn’t notice any amount of running color in the blue, but I can’t help but think if I had used white, I could have had problems.

I will not be making a pattern for this one and as such, I haven’t named this quilt either. Just look at the video by Donna Jordan about this one and you will get the idea. Hers is nicer than mine anyway. I just wanted mine to be a queen size quilt, which I found a bit harder than I expected with such large and unwieldy pieces.

So enjoy. This has taken entirely too long to finish up. I’m actually pretty embarrassed about it, but this one was one of the tops that was at the bottom of my pile of unfinished tops recently finished.

Enjoy the photos. It’s a very simple idea for a quilt - with absolutely no subtlety or secondary patterns.
