Second panel added to Mosaic in 1.5"x2.5"
My little Mosaic in 1.5”x2.5” strips is now bigger. Because it is not a wide quilt, the strips aren’t too hard to put together.
For some reason I had more strips than with the first panel. I had 15 rows with the first panel, but got more than that this time. Not sure why, but I did.
This is the second segment.
It may be that these rows had more whites than the first ones. I am not spending too much time trying to figure it out. I did cut the opposite direction - so the words are a different direction.
I like to work in groups when I do this kind of quilt. The top gets to be unwieldly if I just always add to the top, row by row.
Here are the two segments - segment one and segment two.
Anyway, This is the current size.
My layout is really like this. I have this printed out and in front of my as I work. This pattern is even the right width. I am not sure how long I will go as I want the design to stop at a logical place. I’d prefer an even X ending, since that is how I started, but if I need to go to the end of the O part, I can live with that. The diagram shows it stopping with an “O” row.
One thing to note as I am making this quilt top - I’m allowing the colors to be together if that is how it happens. I’m not working hard at not letting similar colors touch, for example, yellows or those light blues. If it happens, it happens.
I find this kind of piecing fun, as well. It’s not at all stressful and I love the idea of using an almost impossible piece of fabric to make something nice.
Also - to note. I am working one panel at a time. I will make up one more panel and make a decision about if I’m going to do a fourth panel. As I started it, I figured it would be four panels, as that would be four yards plus white. We’ll see. I’ll keep you posted.
Thanks so much for coming along with me on this journey!
