Introducing our "House Block” quilt pattern

In connection with this year’s All Florida Shop Hop, we made up a pattern to go with the blocks that people are collecting at every store. OK. They aren’t collecting the blocks - they are collecting block cards that give instructions and colorations using this year’s fabrics.

Our block looks like this.

We talked with another shop owner and together we decided to make up a block to go around the blocks. Everyone gets a block pattern at each store and we thought it would be nice to create something to help bring cohesion to the blocks. So knowing my fascination with HOUSE blocks all last year (we decided this last year), I said, “Let’s do a house block.”

So, I played around with it and made this rather large 18” house block around the 9” block pattern card every store is giving out.

Then I wrote the pattern - layout - and we laid it out and showed how it would look theoretically - sorta. I don’t have the colors or blocks from other shops, so I didn’t know how to color them in. Anyway, this layout is using some of last year’s shop hop fabric and some just fabric people might have in their stash.

Anyway, we are offering this as a paper pattern or digital download.

The ONLY part you are getting is the house part and the overall layout. The individual blocks are for you to come up with on your own. Maybe you have a BOM that results in 9” blocks and needed something to tie them together. Maybe you want to make yourself a sampler quilt - this would do the trick.

You could have fun with the grassy part and the sky. So fun. It would be fun to even use a floral - or maybe even some sandy fabrics instead of the grass. Could be great fun!

Our House Block Quilt finishes at 72”x72”.

You can get your HOUSE BLOCK quilt pattern here as a paper pattern

OR

digital download.

Check it out!

Maybe it’s something you would be able to use since you can use it with any 9” (finished size) block. And the beauty of this is that it takes only 9 blocks to make a somewhat decent sized quilt (72”x72”) since the blocks are ginormous!

This is sewing I actually did back in February but we weren’t ready to share it yet back then.

I hope you can enjoy this!

Thanks so much for coming along with me on this journey.

Have a great day wherever you are reading this.
