"Sheet of Stamps" top finished - 2.5" version

I decided that among other tops, I wanted to make some of my best 2” quilts into 2.5” versions for use with your 2.5” strips scraps.

This is one of those.

Sheet of Stamps is one of my favorites of the 2” series of which I’ve finished 82 tops.

This top involves two blocks. An “x” block of sorts and an “o” Block. You need 9 “x” blocks and 16 “o” blocks. Then you do have to trim off the edges of the outer “o” blocks as they become side setting triangles.

Here are the blocks I made. They are HUGE - 22” in fact. Yes, those are large blocks. I find it interesting to work with such large blocks!

Once again - the contrast between the blacks and the whites is so vivid that it makes for a very graphic quilt top.

It’s big, but not enormous like the one using the smaller strips.

I did use a variety of white on whites and even the solid blacks are quite a variety. Some are darker black than others but the end result is fine! I really like it - even though it doesn’t have the detail that the smaller version had.

Then as I laid it out for you to see. Here are the 9 - “x” blocks:

Here I added the alternate “o” blocks to the middle so I could see the pattern. I love it when that happens!

The outer blocks aren’t shown yet.

Here you can see how I put yellow in the center of the “o” blocks. I did do them somewhat randomly - they aren’t all ‘dark yellow’ in the centermost part - but the centers are just yellow.

Here’s the quilt Sheet of Stamps using 2” strips and squares. For ease of comparison I’ll put the larger one next to it. The new one is a queen size, but the large one is a large king size quilt!

Even though the pattern is on the site for the 2” size, I will be reworking it for the 2.5” size - I mean, I’ll add it to the site as I will definitely leave the 2” there as well.

Oh, and I do have those cut offs from the sides. Stay tuned for what I do with those!

Remember what I did with the last group of these side setting pieces? Let me show you to remind you!

Thanks so much for coming along with me on this journey!

Have a great day wherever you are reading!
