Projects Found - Bright Star Blocks

I came across 7 bright star blocks leftover from this quilt. I am sure that is the quilt they were left from - and somehow they got stuffed somewhere.

Well, it’s time to change that and use them up.

 

Here are the stars I have to use. I went ahead and made up 2 more so there would be 9.

My plan is just to make a big 9 patch from them and see what size I’ve got. At that point I will decide what to do for borders as I definitely want the quilt to be bigger than that!

I found some nice cooredinating fabrics and have them pulled in a pile. However, until my family leaves, it is hard for me to focus on anything at all, much less start making some sort of fancy borders.

 

I’ve been considering sashing the blocks and part of me says “No, don’t sash,” while the other part says, “Yes! please sash me!”. I will have to make a decision pretty soon.

I usually sash, but part of me is loving how these look without sashing. The beauty of sashings means that the spots where the star points come together will get some relief from overcrowding! :)

I thought I took pictures of them laid out on the floor, but apparently I didn’t, as I can’t find them. Will probably have to do it again, but at the moment there is a Duplo train taking over the floor where I normally do this.

LOL

So you will have to wait.

All this being grandma and grandpa and having visitors is giving me a new appreciation for young moms who quilt. I knew how to sew but I didn’t do much of it while mine were small - as there just wasn’t much time after fixing meals and making sure school was taken care of.

If you are a grandma who often has the kids, I realize that things become “normal” and you don’t actually have to baby sit as much as just look out for them - as you do your own kids. It’s been a while for us since our youngest kids were this small, so it’s so easy to forget.
