Day 3 - "What Am I Doing?" Quilt
Today my goal was to finish the borders on this top and cut the binding. Then, I hoped to prepare the backing.
How far along did I get?
I got the final 2 borders on - the pieced brown one and the outer green one with the heart blocks in the corners.
I tried to put the top on the floor and get a picture. I have a lot of stuff in my living room at the moment.
I then pieced a backing.
I then took the whole thing to the long arm at around 4 pm and began to set it up on the long arm.
Once I got it on, I had planned to go up to my daughter’s bedroom and work on cleaning it out so my company has room to sleep. But it was late in the afternoon and hard for me to get excited about doing that. I decided, instead, to just do a row across on the quilt.
So, I did.
Then, I decided to quilt til about 5:30 pm. Just one more row.
One more row.
I finally decided that I probably wasn’t going to do anything else that day - why not work til about 8 pm and see what I could get done.
EEEK.
I ran into a rebellious long arm.
At abouit 8:10 pm after some difficulties, my husband suggested that maybe the long arm was overheating and just leave it til the next day and maybe it would work.
So i did. I was so close to finishing, it was difficult to do ,but I really had no choice at that point.
Since this blog post is about making the quilt and I don’t want to focus on issues - let’s just say I stopped at 8:10 pm. I was hoping that the next day I could finish it.
I was able to get a lot more done than I had any idea that I could.
Thanks so much for coming along with me on this journey
I was excited to try to get the quilt top finished quilting, bound and then washed and dried!
Oh - one thing. I wrote Raya and asked her if her mom liked cats or dogs and she replied, “Flowers”.
This is why I put that backing on the quilt. She can flip it over and make it a reversible quilt!
Thanks so much for coming along with me on this journey!
