"Classy"

I didn’t have a lot of time so I finished this one quickly and got it bound and washed and photographed in time to take it with us to the states.

Need I say more? It’s an adorable lap quilt!

I thought it was cute to begin with but I am liking it more now that it is done.

I have learned to like pretty much all colors due to quilting, but I can’t say orange and purple are actually my favorite color combo—but I can stand it. In this quilt, I actually like it.

I put purple flowers on the back. My daughter loves purple - or at least she did when she still lived at home, so I was glad to be able to put this on the backing.

Just a review - the quilt is made of two 6.5” blocks - the first is a plain block and the second is a shoefly block consisting of 4 half square triangles (HST) and a plain printed block plus 4 white squares.

All of those blocks are 2.5” before being sewn together.

Once sewn together, they are 6.5” blocks as well.

There are no sashings, no cornerstones and only 3 borders to this quilt.

I hope you’ve enjoyed this ltitle quick lap quilt. It’s nothing that everyone is going to say it is an heirloom quilt, BUT that doesn’t mean it can’t be loved. Really, if an heirloom is just a quilt that is passed down from one generation to another, then it theoretically could be a quilt.

Find something your family member is passionate about, and you can whip this one up quickly as well.

And now you know what it looks like.

Here is the layout.

49”x66”

It’s a very simple design idea.

I do like the outer border combination. I played around with the thicknesses of the various borders— the white, purple and orange in order to tweak it so that Iiked it. There wasn’t a lot of difference in each but I had that nice orange Clemson fabric and knew I wanted to have a wider outer border.

I hope my daughter uses this one ‘up’. That’s the goal, right? To use and use our quilts! If it wears out, well, hopefully I could make her another one - or she could make her own!

I did write up the pattern. It’s here.

Maybe someone can use it.
That’s about it for this quilt! It was fun, fast and easy to put together!
