January 2026 strips cutting Report
I have a small report for this month.
I didn’t purposely go and cut a lot of strips, but as I was cutting other things, I did manage to cut a few strips that will end up in my overall strips bags.
I am really trying to see if I can cut down on how much I have to cut as I want to work those bags DOWN. I may go on a massive “make more bindings for charity quilts” mode if necessary. I like doing all this work in the cooler weather as all that pressing is a good thing in the cold weather as all that heat in the house really helps! At least I don’t mind the added heat whereas in the summer, it’s not nice! So I’m thrilled that I’ve decided to get as much of these charity quilts done now.
Anyway, I did manage to cut this much - not much at all, but I tried to just do this as I was working on other things and needed to finish up a bit of a fabric.
2.5” - 0.55 lb
2” - 0.44 lb
1.5” - 0.11 lb
So here is my table. It’s silly, actually, to share a table with only one entry, but it is what I do, so here it is!
I’m really going to try to go ahead and cut up a lot of my strips into pieces needed for making some serious quilt tops this year. That is my goal, anyway. I suppose it depends on how many quilts I make.
I am starting already with charity quilts, so I will have those cutoffs. Here are my totals since I started.
I am currently working on a simple quilt using my blues 2.5” strips. Hopefully it will be able to be done soon! I am pulling from those 2.5” blues bags. Here are my two bags - both kind of skinny but tall. It makes it easier to put them in my sewing room when they tall and skinny. These were bags that had bolts of fabric in them.
Thanks so much for coming along with me on this journey.
Stay safe wherever you are - We have very, very cold weather right now. Try to stay warm wherever you are! I’ll do my best to do the same!
