Milton's Aftermath - Revisited

My mom’s place suffered more damage than originally thought to trees. We were thankful at the time that none got the house, but at the same time, probably figured there was more damage than we had heard about.

The water was up in the bottom pasture and we knew it hadn’t gone down to normal levels since then.

There were some trees that were leaning dangerously on various structures or other trees. When my husband noticed these things and with him here, we had a professional tree guy/s come and take them out. Then they moved the pieces to the front pasture and they are awaiting further treatment.

I thought I’d show you some of the work that was done a few days ago when the guys were here on the property.

I know it is easy to think, “Oh that was quite a while ago now, certainly you are all recovered.” Actually, no, that’s not the case. Many trees are still down and a lot of debris hasn’t been picked up yet. There is also water in places were it didn’t used to be.

I know with pictures, they end up just looking like a jumbled mess, and so a few pictures more or less tend to look like the same thing over and over.

Here is some extra water showing the water table is quite high still. Also, the banana trees - one set is still under water but the other is in an area drying out now and showing signs of life!

The banana trees:

Here is the huge burn pile that we will be burning - at least someone will be. I’d rather not be in the area when it happens!

And so goes the cleanup from Hurricane Milton in Dade City, Florida!

Thanks so much for coming along with me on this journey!

Have a great day wherever you are reading this.
