Next set of Hearts Out

I did get these hearts put out in various places in our area. I am trying not to put them up here on the blog until they are distributed. This keeps me from doing the easy part (making them) and not getting around to putting them out.

While it is certainly easier than before, I do not find this part all that easy though we certainly have open areas I can do it.

I was showing a younger lady at church about them and she was so interested. She said, ‘“I see each one has a theme.” While I obviously had thought about it, I hadn’t exactly thought about it that way. It all starts with the fabric that I’m using, obviously.

These were all made last year. I’m trying to distribute that whole bin full. It definitely will be quite a few “20 at a time” type of thing. I did sort the remaining ones into fall and winter and then “all the rest” which means really neither fall nor winter specifically.

My sorting process. I was looking for 20 for my friend to pass out as she said she would be interested in helping distribute them.

I do enjoy thinking about the fun that the people who find them are enjoying. At least I hope so. :) It certainly has been a great experience for me to spend time making them as they are so small and relatively quick and easy compared to making a quilt. It has helped me work on developing other skills that sort of complement quilt making.

I do usually put them in bushes or shrubbery or hanging on trees. I hope that people do find them. I would love to know more stories. Here are some of the places around town that I’ve been putting them.

I think the creative dopamine hit hits harder and more often as I finish these. I suppose I get a rush when I finish a quilt as well - but it all comes on a bit more slowly. Whatever it is, I get a small thrill out of a pile of these hearts getting ready to go out into the world.

If you want to make hearts from some of your scraps - fabric and batting, you can read about them at www.ifaqh.com or at a Facebook ground that is now tagging their hearts as “Look a Quilted Heart!”. After I use up all my tags on these, I will put at least half of them out with the Facebook group’s tags.

So far I’ve only had three reported on the website - but I’m sure lots more have been found. I know that I’m working against the grain since it is an English driven website and people have to understand the idea of a hash tag, etc if they find something like this. I do appreciate the few who have reported theirs!

Anyway - that’s it for today!

Thanks so much for coming along with me on this journey!

Have a great day wherever you are reading this.
