June 2025 Strips cutting Report
Well, I worked for only a few hours total on this project this month. I had other things going and while I did USE a lot of strips this month, I didn’t cut up that many.
But here is what I did do.
I had a bag of misc. fabric pieces in my sewing room whcih I kept putting things into when they were in my room and I didn’t know what to do them, so I started going through that bag. Some of it involved just sorting again - so these strips are that as it was all together in one bag. I also threw just leftover pieces of things I was working on but didn’t seem like enough to go find a place on my shelving unit.
But mostly I just ended up going through this basket which was filled with misc. Some of it was leftovers from some quilts I did in June - others were actually things I brought back from the states that needed sorting or trimming.
I also did cut up some of my scraps and incorpotated them right into a couple of scrappy quilts I’ve got in the works. And that feels good. In other words, they were cut from scraps and put right into a quilt - and never measured or weighed. But that’s fine. I love it when I can use them up that fast. My goal is to keep on top of my scraps and that is the ultimate plus - to not even make it to the strips bags - but rather, used right away. Mostly it doesn’t work that for me, though!
Anyway, here is my meager offering this month:
2.5” - 1.32 lbs.
2” - 0.77 lbs.
1.5” - 0.98 lbs. (Some of this might have been already weighed in other years since I believe it was pulled for a different quilt top and not used so it was sent back into the strips bags)
This means that my totals since I started keeping track -
Thank you so much for tolerating these blog posts. I know they get tedious, but I find that IF I didn’t do them, I probaby wouldn’t keep on top of the trimming as well as I do. I plan on writing a monthly blog post and I find myself forcing myself to get some cut. I still have a big unsorted bag in my sewing room which I will make priority in July.
But these strips were the reason I started my 2” series, and subsequently now, my 2.5” series and a tiny 1.5” series.
So, there’s that.
Thanks so much for coming along with me on this journey!
