On the Home Front

Right now here in Poland we are in the middle of summer weather. School isn’t actually “Out” yet but summer weather has hit.

We’re having warm weather, which is fine. My garden is growing well.

I’m trying to get some sewing done each day but I’m also trying to get an hour of weeding done every day - as I said in my last garden update. That’s because when I let it go until July, the weeds just manage to “take over” while I take it easy and just ignore the weeds.

My son, Tim, and his wife have been in Poland since July 6! Here’s an old photo I took from Tim’s Facebook page.

They are looking for a place to stay and right now they are off looking at another option. They do need to find an apartment, so if you would pray that they would find the right one for them, we’d appreciate it. They’ve looked at several so far. I know they are ready to settle in to their own place as they are currently living out of their suitcases. That’s not very fun. They are great guests, but they are staying in my main fabric room. I know there isn’t a lot of space for them there. (I also have to ask to go look at my fabric stash since it is their room for now!) They are fine…but I feel funny walking into it when it is the guest room. I did move out most of the fabrics I wanted to make several quilts with during this time, but occasionally still want something else.

The Euro Cup 2024

Poland played today (Friday) at 6 pm. Apparently so many people in Poland were watching it that the site was “full” and I couldn’t watch it. That’s not the end of the world, I realize. I even tried my app for that website on my phone, but the app didn’t work either - I am sure it is because the game was at 6 pm and people weren’t at work so had time to watch the game.

But Poland lost. They also lost the first game.

This is the standing for where they are now.

The two little x marks mean they have lost two games. I think they can’t advance, though they will play one more game. The chance is very low that they will able to advance to the 1/8th finals.

So do you think I’m actually a big soccer fan? I’m not actually. But I do like to be aware of what’s going on in the place where I’m living. For Poland, that’s this European Cup. It is really a big deal here. REALLY Big.

I’ve been going through my quilt patterns and organizing them into notebooks.

I realized I had downloaded several patterns or had purchased patterns - but had them kind of scattered. I decided to go ahead and sort and put them in some notebooks.

It’s a work in progress, but here’s a picture. It’s about time. I have literally had some of these patterns sitting here since 2016 or even before! I had them in a very large notebook with only two metal rings and I didn’t like how they don’t turn easily.

In case you are wondering which quilt that is that is on the bed - it’s here.

Oh, and since my sis has some soccer fabrics, I wanted you to see what she has just in case you have soccer players/fans in your circle of friends. I’ve found that many of us really couldn’t care less about soccer.

But let me share those with you.

That’s it for a small summary of what’s happening in my world - besides what I’ve already written on the blog posts!

Have a great day wherever you are reading this!

Thanks for coming along with me on this journey!
