"Tulip Patch" finished
I told you I’d be sharing these tops that I’ve been finishing up in the last few weeks. While I’ve not really done much piecing, I HAVE done some quilting and that makes me very happy!
Tulip Patch was made from the Quilty Fun quilt book by Lori Holt. I finished this top while we were traveling and stayed in Indianapolis at a church’s missionary housing. I used my sis’s little Brother to piece this top and finished it while there.
This quilt is one I really liked far more than I ever thought I would when I began it. I mean, obviously since I started it, I figured I’d like it. But as I spent time on it, as usual, I began to like it more and more. The pattern didn’t come with the border nor was it as long as this one. However, once again, I wanted mine a bit bigger than the original as found in the book.
We do have the Quilty Fun book at Quilted Twins. It’s here if you want to get it.
The pattern is once again, not difficult at all. I did write about the top before, so it is possible that you all remember it from that. Maybe not.
I also wanted to mention that even when with these tops, Lori makes them from one of her lines of fabrics - I don’t. I usually don’t even have enough of that one line to make that particular quilt. With this quilt, I really was just going for some bright colors and you can see that I did something very different for a Lori Holt quilt and that is that I used solids for the tulips themselves - both the flower part and the green leaves and stems.
I did quilt with this with a meander with random hearts thrown in.
If you wanted to make such a top, you could easily pull from your Lori Holt fabrics, or just fabrics in some similar bright colors. I think what makes this top so fun is that it is full of very happy fabrics.
The quilt roll!
At Quilted Twins, my sis tries to keep Lori Holt fabrics available and does have some bundles available. Let me share them with you as of this writing. You can click on any of the pictures and it should take you to the website where it is for sale with more info. Even I do not have all of these fabrics!
And this one is now done. I love each of these quilts I’ve made with Lori Holt fabrics. They just make me smile.
My husband really prefers the Civil War colors - the browns, burgundies and navies. Of course, I like those as well, but these do make me smile inside.
Thanks so much for coming along with me on this journey.
As a quick reminder, this is where I am on my Lori Holt quilts.
