Week 6 of the 2025 Mystery Quilt from Edyta Sitar

OK. I’m getting antsy now to finish this one. As I get closer to the end, I just want to finish already.

Why?

These are the blocks needed for this round - I chose to use 6 different colors for the stars.

Well I’ve already chosen my fabrics and I want to get going on the 2026 one by Edyta because I’ve seen some people show what they are doing for this year’s and it seems very nice.

So, I’d like to get going on it, but I am restricting myself until I finish this one - or at least am almost done because I don’t want to have two unfinished ones of this type from one person (Edyta- mystery).

So, Here we go.

This round was of stars and I had the hardest time deciding on the colors of the stars - which colors to use?

The line of fabric I am using has a lot of different fabrics and I have them all.

They are from Stephanie Slewinski and her fabrics are here. They are beautiful and definitely are the same types of fabrics that Edyta herself designs. If you click on the bundle packs shown below, you can get them in a bundle. There are more than shown here, but these are the fabrics I have to choose from. Let me say that that light bundle - it’s just gorgeous and oh so practical. You are going to see a bit of it.

By waiting until the whole pattern is shown, I’ve been able to actually plan it, and I’m very grateful for that. These are kind of pricey fabrics and I really want this one to be nice.

This is where my plan is to go from - though I am continuing to polish it a bit as I get to the round.

So this is where I am now. I purposely chose some lighter fabrics for some of the stars. I know they are light - but that’s okay.

I will say that these fabrics feel like butter. They are SUPER nice and I am thoroughly enjoying sewing with them.

I admit that I found the first few rounds a bit tedious - maybe because I didn’t really see any sort of real design. However, with the stars here, and the next round’s plan all worked up, I got busy and put this one together - this round and even the next - going later into the day. However, I then put it away for a day or two while I decided to give it a rest.

However, I have picked out the fabrics for my house round - just have to start making all 44 of those blocks - but they aren’t hard and I like house blocks so it’s okay - just have to stop and do some cutting.

The Mystery Quilt I am referring to here was last year’s Mystery by Edyta Sitar - who runs Laundry Basket quilts and designs absolutely amazing quilts (usually). She is Polish by birth and has such a sweet spirit. She has named this quilt “Tennessee”. Here is the link to her blog giving the instructions on how to make the stars for this round.

Oh, Edyta has one of those quilts that is truly a bucket list one for me - called Stars upon Stars. If you’ve seen it - you know.

I usually make my half square triangles (HST) by making them bigger and trimming them down, but I decided to just try to make them exactly as she said - to give myself a different experience and also to see if I could. I could but I still trimmed down the flying geese as I made them a bit too big and they needed trimming down to 3.5” wide.

Anyway, it was fun. It is not difficult when spaced out over several weeks.

Enjoy.
Thanks so much for coming along with me on this journey.

Have a great day wherever you are reading this.
