"Haberdashery" quilt top finishedI

I made this top after finding it on You Tube.

It’s called Haberdashery and is based on this block.

I didn’t have the actual pattern but it’s not all that hard to figure out. I used a variety of Lori Holt fabrics. As far as I know it is unavailable to purchase as a pattern. Maybe someday in the future it will be if you need it.

I can’t give you a link to the pattern as I don’t have it but I can reference these two You Tube videos where I saw someone working on this.

Now this didn’t take long to make as it is just 12 blocks.

I did want to make mine larger than the original one I had seen so I added the two borders - the first one using 2.5” squares that coordinate with the Lori Holt fabrics and then for the final border, I found a denim colored print that had the words vintage and denim and other things like that on it.

You can get this Denim Logos by Northcott fabric here for only $6.99/yd!  It’s wonderful fabric!

The reason I wanted mine bigger is because I recently finished my Apple-licious quilt and it is so small, that I’m not thrilled.

The quilt actually turned out fine BUT in my opinion it it is too small to be a lap quilt even and I don’t have wall space for it anywhere in my house. I can drape it over a chair but even that isn’t really how I would prefer to see it finished.
SO, I decided to not make any more that small. You’ll see that quilt this week, Lord willing.

I thought the blue border fabric fabric fit nicely with the theme (vintage) and colors in this top. I suppose using one of Lori’s fabrics might have been best, but once again, while I have a lot of her fabric scraps, I don’t have a LOT of any one fabric with few exceptions.

So here are some pictures.

Quite a few of these fabrics are actually Lori Holt fabrics but some are just ones that I thought go well with the theme and/or colors of her fabrics. I have a whole zipper bag full of 2.5” squares AND a different one with 1.5” squares.

It is a rather uncomplicated quilt and I was in the mood for that after finishing the 120 charity quilts just recently!

After adding the borders I did, it made the top 60”x63”.

I may quilt this one the way I’ve done a couple other small ones - with some wavy lines. We’ll see. I’m still thinking about it.

I did make the sashings reasonably wide as they are cut 3.5”x8.5”. I made the long ones as one long strip and not with any cut cornerstones, which sometimes I do just to keep things in line. However, this is a rather smallish quilt (for me) so that didn’t seem necessary.

This does make a few of my Lori Holt quilts or tops finished - all tops finished in 2024. Let me show you.

So here’s to finishing another top and I had a blast making it!

Thanks so much for coming along with me on this journey!

Have a great day wherever you are reading this!
