Happy Thanksgiving!

I trust that you have a great day today wherever you are reading!

Here in Poland AND in Florida, the Quilted Twins will be celebrating with family. We are so grateful to the Lord for that chance this year.

We will be busy cooking, talking, cleaning up etc. We hope some if not most of you can also spend time with your family or loved ones! And if not, then I hope you can have the day to relax and do what you want to take a break from what you normally do and reflect about what you have to be thankful for.

I think it is fantastic that the USA does have a special day that we can take to say Thank You to our God. I know in this day and age, many don’t even think about it, but some do. And I’m thankful for that.

I have to tell you that getting a turkey this year was quite an ordeal. Well, not too much of an ordeal, but normally we go to a poultry processing plant and order one. This year, while my husband was away, I went in and ordered.

The lady said there was possibly a way to get a turkey but she wasn’t sure. Her boss would let me know after Sunday. (It was Friday.) So the next week I kept my phone with me all week. Finally on Friday my husband came back and together we went back to that place and my husband walked in.

The lady I had talked with remembered that I had been (I was still in the car), and she said, “You mean she (the boss) hasn’t called your wife yet?” My husband said, “No.” She replied, “The boss lady will be in tomorrow, so I’ll make sure she calls.”

So, sure enough, she did call me and told me the turkey would be ready on the 26th. But we have to call in the morning before we go and get it.

So I called in the morning of the 26th and they hadn’t gotten their turkey in yet. However, at about 1 pm, a lady called me telling me our turkey hadn’t arrived yet - it would be in tomorrow. Thankfully Wed. was just fine. I told her, “That’s fine.”

So, Wed. morning (yesterday as you read this), I finally got word that they had a turkey for us. So my husband and I went and got it around 1 pm.

I’m sure some of you wonder how much it cost. Let me share you some of the photos.

This turkey cost us $2.17/lb or the whole turkey, It\s 18.7 lbs and cost us $46.62. :) I’ll do my best not to waste any meat.

So there’s that. That’s a lot different from running in to Winn Dixie or Publix and picking up a turkey at 49cents/lb or even $1/lb.

Here’s a picture of ours before cooking. :)

Naturally I’m working on this blog post on Wednesday before Thanksgiving, so I don’t have the turkey taken out of the blue bag yet. It’s currently in the refrigerator at the moment.

The thing that they do here is leave the neck on - and no, we don’t get giblets stuffed in the carcass.
