"Old Town" - 2024 Bonnie Hunter Mystery quilt fabric bundle pack - the story behind ours!!

This year Bonnie Hunter is featuring something I know something about (Becky)…Poland!

Bonnie is starting her Mystery on Nov 22, so a week earlier than normal and you will want to get your fabric bundle from Rachael ordered.

Rachael has been busy and is getting everything on the website.

This is the set of fabrics that we pulled before I started to cut the first bundle. Each bundle will contain different fabrics, but will be in keeping with the color cards and the written explanation.

Rachael writing now..

As soon as I saw the colors, my mind was busy. I printed out a copy of the color cards and hustled to McDonald’s where Ken was enjoying a leisurely breakfast with some men friends. He eventually made it down to Lowe’s to get the paint sample cards. He told us that he had a rough time finding them because they were all mixed up over 10 feet of wall space.

So, if you decide to check for the Valspar paint chip cards yourself, don’t despair — just keep on looking!

After delivering the color sheets to Ken, I hurried in to the store to make up the website entry and figure up what we should put in our fabric bundles. I also figured out the price, but in the hurry, I totally forgot to fund it. It took 2 phone calls from those of you who wanted it to jostle me into getting the bundle funded and ready for you, without a picture.

Eventually Ken brought me back the paint chips and I stapled them onto the color cards that we prepare for those who want to shop in the store for your own fabrics.

These handy, dandy color cards are laminated and ready for you to walk around the store with so you can find your own fabrics, if you don’t want to get a bundle of ours.

You can order your fabric bundle pack - which DOES NOT include the pattern. You have to get that yourself every week from Bonne Hunter’s Quiltville website.

We do our best to make sure your bundle is something you will be happy with and that will make a stunning quilt. We have followed the website’s guidelines closely and will send the amounts needed, plus a bit extra. Remember that sometimes we include fabrics that you might not choose. This is to help you get outside your box. We do study the color cards, the samples and the groupings shown on Bonnie Hunter’s website very carefully, to get colors that will work.

We are cutting half yards as we have done in the past. For now we have just the standard/regular bundle available. We’ll let you know in the coming week if other variations will become available.

Be sure to check the link to read about what you will get in your bundle.

I (Rachael) am thrilled to be able to be a part of this bundle! I get to pick the beautiful fabrics and work with them, and you get to put together an amazing quilt, which will remind me of my sister, her husband and wonderful family, who have lived there in Poland for many years.

I trust that you all will order lots of these so I can think about this often!

If you’d rather just buy the bundles that we have ready, click on them to get them. They can be purchased separately. If we run out, we’ll try to make more.

We do have some beautiful Polish embroidered hearts still. If you’re interested in Polish heritage and history, this is an excellent reminder for you to purchase. It’s just $10. Get it HERE.

Notes from Becky -

You can read or not read - it’s just maybe interesting information.

I designed this block using very common Polish words to put on the quilt.

Since Poland is where I’ve lived since 1994, I also will save the clues. I am unable to do a mystery at this time, but saving the clues in a folder takes only seconds every week.

Back a few years I made a Poland themed quilt for Peter, Rachael’s son, and I put a few things on it you might find interesting.

Poland is full of beautiful folk designs, from Kaszubski to Lowicz - I think we have 42 different regions all around Poland where the folk art varies. The themes vary from roosters to beautiful flowers and more flowers and even lines (like a belt) of colorful fabrics. Those folk designs shown below were embroidered by me using www.emblibrary.com designs.

Some of the regions are plain while others are very colorful. I didn’t really know what I was doing when I made this quilt but I didn’t want to make just make a red/white quilt (Polish flag colors).

Peter still has this beautiful Poland inspired quilt that Becky made him. He’s the one who works in the store on some Saturdays! (Rachael’s comment)

Not that long ago I also showed you all the folk designed cosmetic bags I made using ONLY folk fabrics.

Now, just to be clear - you WILL NOT be getting any Polish themed fabric in your bundle.

Sorry. That’s not what this is about. I guess all I wanted to show is that the folk colors here are beautiful! The floral is the Lowicz folk design (from the region around Lodz).

So anyway - you should order your fabric bundle today!

Thanks so much for coming along with us on this journey!

Have a great day wherever you are reading this.
