The Big 2025 Quilt Give-Away!

Well, it is over.

We were able to give out 181 quilts on Saturday. The last 10 quilts (I had 191 total) should be given away on Monday - the day you read this!

I won’t be sharing all the photos today as there are just too many, but we had so much help and I appreciated it so much!

We laid out about 62 quilts in two rooms so people walked in and chose the ones they wanted. We placed them so they could see both sides (most of the time) so they could possibly see how they could use one side or the other. Once a quilt was removed from a chair, we quickly replaced it with another one until we were down to under 62. When that happened, we started removing them from the back room and gradually moved them to the front room and as we ran out, we removed chairs, so it didn’t look deserted.

We then also gave them pillowcases, as I had a lot of them leftover from the things sent to us for Ukraine. I ran out of quilts before pillowcases, so I had them leftover and it occurred to me that we could move along many of them this way.

My husband brought out 4 boxes of them from the place I had put them, and we let people choose 2 pillowcases per quilt. Many people were excited about that!

We did have many Ukrainians who took pillowcases (and quilts) and they were very grateful. The Polish people were as well - but did want to mention we had both Ukrainians and Poles who received quilts and pillowcases.

We did ask everyone we took pictures with if we could share their pictures with the people who helped us make the tops- and so I am doing it here.

Thank you all so very much.

I know many of you reading here donated tops to us and have donated through the years.

I still have a stash of tops I’m working through. I hope to get caught up in a couple of years!

Here are a few pictures of the day. I’ll share more on a different day.

We had some people taking quilts for themselves, while others were getting them for family or other people they were caring for. The spirit was happy and people were cheerful. Overall, it was a great day.

We are looking to have a cold winter this year and I am so glad we were able to move along all these quilts!

These are less than half of the pictures - and as I share with you charity quilt progress for the rest of the year, I’ll continue to share pictures of the people. So just keep checking the blog for the rest. I’ll be doing weekly charity work reports until the end of the year until I get 120 bindings made for 2026!

Thanks so much for coming along with me on this journey!

Have a great day wherever you are reading this!
