Paper pieced Piper Cub Quilt top part 2

Here’s the next tinstallment of this paper pieced pattern. I’m sorry I’m stretching it out so long. I didn’t know I would be THIS slow at it, but I am. It’s intense, as I said before.

I’ve had other projects in my list of things to get done, so I kept pushing this to the side.

Not good, I realize, but I did.

Just making two blocks of this quilt is taking me several hours. There is just so much detail and so very many pieces in each of the blocks. Plus.

I’m not fast at paper piecing and with so many different shades and colors, and I’m constantly checking to make sure I’m doing it correctly.

I figure if I do make a mistake…well, I will not tell. OK?

I’m going to be spacing this project out a bit. It’s not what I want to do in my head, but honestly, when I think about spending another day doing paper piecing, — it’s not my definition of fun. :) I feel like I need a recovery day or week after doing it.

But I’m impressed at how good it is looking! That is definitely helping my attitude.

I didn’t take pictures along the way, but here are the next two columns. This is how I’m doing it - these are B-1 and C-1 and then B-2 and then C-2. When my husband saw it he said, “Looks like the tail end of a plane!

I haven’t sewn those two columns together, and will wait til I get a few more or at least another two blocks done before I put them together. I think it will look super neat especially after sewing these blocks together, side by side. I’m wondering if I’m doing something wrong, though as there are quite a few seams piled up on each other, especially where there is so much detail. It just seems like “a lot”.

Just to remind you all - this is what I’m making and it is a massive (to me) paper pieced pattern I found on Etsy with the kind of plane my BIL had. (Piper Cub)

This is the photo of the plane he had. Ahem. Notice the word “had”. But I guess he really liked that plane. Yes, he’s still with us, even if the plane is in need of some work.

Anyway, maybe I’ll pick up the pace a bit on this. I had some other things that I had to get dealt with lately which took me away from this paper pieced massive project. So maybe soon I’ll get back into this one.

This is part of my airplane series. Remember that?

Here it is so far.

I am kind of eager to get this one finished only because I want to go back to using some of that airplane fabric I have. I’ve got a few plane themed quilts planned to use that fabric up, but am not letting myself start on those yet until I get this one done. Otherwise, this one may get pushed and pushed back.

Anyway, thanks for coming along with me on this journey.

Have a great day wherever you are reading this!
