Second Sweatshirt decorated
I didn’t want to let this project get away from me - sometimes I have a tendency to do the first part of a project in a timely manner but the rest of it might get put somewhere. So, I determined to go and get this sweatshirt decorated up similarly to the off white one. I think I will probably wear this one more often than the other one because of the color of the sweatshirt.
I had fun making this one but any I do in the future will probably be a different block for the front of a sweatshirt. Not sure what, but I’ll tackle that when it I can locate my hot pink one with a stain on the front. Quilter’s Cache has a whole bunch of block patterns and instructions and they are sorted by size. It’s a treasure trove of information! I can choose one of those or use one from my EQ program. EQ stands for Electric Quilt and I can pretty much make up any block I can think up or have seen.
Once again, I used the pattern by Stephanie Slewinski that was a freebie. Truth is, it is a 10” block and it’s probably somewhere out there on the internet for free if this isn’t the one you can get free. The one I downloaded is a tiny bit different from this one linked here. She says in her pattern that you can’t sell anything you make using her pattern, so if this is something you want to do, I’d advise against using her pattern. I’m unsure how she can actually say that, unless she is referring to actually using her fabric and pattern together since the block itself isn’t ‘hers’ if I can say that. It is a simple sawtooth star with a quarter square triangle as the center. I am sure she’s not the only one who has made this block. Positive.
But, if you do want to make up this and sell these, just don’t use HER fabrics and this pattern in combo…use something else.
I’ve seen many people selling sweatshirts with quilt blocks - a lot of them—lately. Maybe it’s a “thing”? I don’t know. I wanted to do it at the end of the colder season last year but just never got around to doing it. (The ones I’ve seen for sale have been at a craft fair and several of them, anyway, were using the Dresden plate motif.)
Anyway, I’ve been wearing the warm white one already and really like it.
I’m glad I’ve gotten the teal one photographed now and can let it go into my rotation of things I can wear this fall as it gets chillier and chillier outside.
I’ve had this one planned for some time now, and had to smile when Corey Yoder had her video on Saturday talking about decorating sweatshirts.
Who knew? I didn’t know it was a thing that anyone who is a big name might talk about but I had to smile at the timing.
Of course it is getting to be cooler in the northern part of the USA where Corey is, and definitely has turned chilly here in Poland!
Have a great day wherever you are reading this!
Thanks so much for coming along with me on this journey!
