Found - Another top from a bunch of strips already put together - long ago

I went ahead and put these strips of blocks I found in that room cleanout. I had finished up a couple more a few weeks back, but I had put these to one side since I kind of lacked one strip from having it the size I wanted.

I ended up adding a 2.5” strip border to the whole thing making it pretty much 59”x80”.

It really is super simple. As I was working on sewing the strips, these really gave me “blast from the past” vibes. These are the fabrics I used when I first really started quilting. So many are thicker fabrics - more of a decorator weight - but it was what I could find that was all cotton here in Poland. These have probably been sitting for at least 10 years...maybe a bit longer.

The colors are also kind of drab. I am not enthralled with this top but it will work for a charity top. Someone will really like it so it is worth finishing up!

I think working on this top helped me remind me how blessed I am now. These are just sort of pale and “not exciting”. I have so many fun fabrics now!:)

I will add something amazing as a backing and that way someone will take it because people here like to use both sides of their quilts! If they aren’t crazy about one side, well, the other side is always nice!

Anyway, I did finish this up and the top is now waiting by the stairs to head to the long arm room where it will be matched up with a backing and put on the pile. My pile is well over 120 combos big and there isn’t much room left up on top of my fabrics. I’m now starting to think about filling my binding bucket back up. It make it go so much faster when all these things are ready to go ahead of time.

Actually, my younger daughter and her husband are coming in a couple of months and I’m actually thinking of asking her to roll up a bunch of binding up into rolls for me. :) Maybe I won’t, though. Would that be cruel? I could throw it all into a pile - and she could do it while they talk. But I probably won’t wait that long to get it all done. We’ll see.

Here’s my plastic bin which is mostly empty so far. Honestly, I think that they would be quite happy to wind up binding for me. :) LOL
