"Appreciation Day" for our Quilts of Valor 'makers' - Quilted Twins' Summer 2025 Challenge
We are over the moon that we ended up with a total of 93 Quilts of Valor (QOV) given or brought over to us at Quilted Twins in our ‘push’ to help get our local QOV recipient list to the green. This brings them so only the most recently added to the list are waiting for quilts. (Wait time is 9 months or less)
Our previous challenges were the kind that whereas people bought a bundle pack and then submitted a quilt that they made with that pack with certain stipulations to be eligible to win a prize.
However, this challenge was different.
We were all about the goal with this challenge which was to help our local QOV coordinator get caught back up to green, as she called it. As a result of that, we appreciate all of you who participated and bought the bundle pack! In each bundle was 5 yards of fabric and a panel. You were free to use the fabric as you wished - and/or add to the fabric in the bundle in order to get the effect you wanted.
Because we knew you weren’t going to get your quilt back, but rather, it was now a donation quilt, we wanted to give each of our participants a gift to say thank you.
As such, Kate, our chief helper in this project, and coordinator of all gifts, wrote myriads of letters to companies all over the USA telling of this project and asking for donations to help us reward our givers.
And the companies responded. Yes they did!

We so appreciated all of these companies who graciously and generously gave us things to help reward our makers.
THANKS TO OUR SPONSORS!
We were given a variety of things from large to small and as such, that it was difficult to know how to give gifts to each participant. So we decided to let each person choose what THEY wanted if they wanted to come in.
Local people who make QOV for this challenge came in on Thursday and Saturday and chose from among the donated gifts. Each person was given 100 points to use as ‘money’ of sorts to get what they wanted. We separated out the gifts in various points in our Sewin’ Shop classroom.
Each had a blast choosing from among fabrics, notions, books, batting and various other rewards!
For several hours we had people come in and choose. They were also able to meet Tammy, our local QOV rep.
We will be sending out gifts to those who requested it via email or those who responded to our texts, if you were unable to pick up a gift!
Here’s Tammy, just arriving, standing by Rachael.
By the end of the day we had folded all of the quilts and Tammy had them packed into her vehicle to take away.
Tammy was so grateful - and by the end, we were all tired, but with that feeling of satisfaction when you finish a big job!
Here is Tammy packing up the last of the quilts into her vehicle!
In about a week we will share all of the donated quilts for this effort in a couple different blog posts.
A special thanks to all of our quilt makers and to everyone who has encouraged this project in any form!
We are thrilled to have been a part of this project! Becky and I were incredibly grateful to be able to participate in this amazingly worthwhile project! Thanks for your support!
