End of September Strips Cutting Report

I had a couple of days after finishing up quilting and binding all the charity quilts where I just HAD to stop and work on my sewing room. It was chaos. I did this right at the end of August/first of September. Actually mostly I did it on Labor Day and the day after - so September 1 and 2.

I went through things that were on the floor and various bags of small pieces of fabric thrown here and there. I re-sorted 2.5” strips that had landed on the floor as I was pulling from them for certain colors of bindings (I did try to coordinate the colors of scrappy bindings with the quilt I was binding.) I found quite a few pieces that needed to be stripped and they went to my trimming up table.

So, I actually did spend some time trimming up scraps again in September, even though, once again, it wasn’t a lot. The difference between August and September, however, is that I had my scraps already in one place in September and I just pulled and trimmed. It isn’t hard when they are all ready to go and available. In August, I didn’t have many down at the table ready to trim. (They were still in my sewing room, kind of scattered about.) :)

So here they are.

2.5” - 2.875 lbs.

2” - 1.06 lbs.

1.5” - 1.375 lbs.

This means that my totals for the year so far are these:

And here are my totals since starting to keep track. Remember, all these strips are the inspiration for my 2.5”, 2” and 1.5” quilts.

I’ve started using my 2.5” strips also for charity quilt bindings - mostly making them scrappy. It is fun, anyway. I like the variety it brings to the charity quilts when I do a nice scrappy. I imagine a child looking at the binding - checking out the fabrics there.

I did manage to cut more in September than I thought I would. But it is directly a result of my working in my sewing room early in the month.

October will probably be a littel slim, however !:) I am not coming back to Poland til almost the end of the month, so I might have another “0” month. We’ll see. I may cut some in Florida. I think I do have scraps there I could work on. :) Time will tell. Wait and see what happens at the end of October!

Thanks so much for coming along with me on this journey!

Have a great day wherever you are reading this!
