Charity quilt tops coming along!

I think that many of you know that I have had a goal of finishing 120 charity quilts this year.  While not impossible to do, it is a feat, and I have other quilts I want to do which make focusing entirely on charity quilts impossible.

But thankfully, several of you have come alongside me and are helping by making some tops for me.

So far I've finished 70 charity quilts in 2017. This leaves 50 for the year - quite a feat considering it's already October!  But while my sis was here, she helped me get together a bunch more tops - made from panels that she brought with her,  We added borders until they were the sizes we wanted. 

Two of my quilting friends from the states sent along some tops that I was able to bring back to Poland to finish.  I have also one more from yet another quilting friend that is designated as a special charity quilt for a special couple.

So, exactly what have I been doing?

There are 72 tops here.  From the left in the stacks, there are 20, 22, and 30.  I have more I am trying to finish up today - but they need another round of borders and a last pressing.

Working on making borders for some centers that yet another friend from Arizona has made. I have several Around the World centers for children that are the size of a panel. I am adding borders to them until they are the single/European twin size that I need/want.

I set it as a goal to get caught up with my friend from Arizona's tops - and I had quite a few to add borders to. In fact, as I write this (Friday night), my back is aching from too much sitting at the sewing machine today and yesterday, actually.  I've been working on them in groups of 5 at a time - trying to finish up at least 5 a day since we got back.  They take about an hour each - by the time I get the borders cut and sewn on.  That doesn't count the pressing that I do at the end.

The only reason I'm pushing so hard right now is because I want to get the tops "ready to go" and then I can begin to "finish" 50 of them so I can reach my charity quilts goal this year. Plus I have maybe 10+? other quilts or tops I'd like to finish this year - and the time is just flying!

This is the layout--I already have the centers-- I'm just adding the borders. This general layout with the centers my friend makes gives me the most common size I use (about 60"x80-85" +/- a couple of inches.

So, that's what I've been doing.  That, and trying to get over jet lag. 

The older I am, the tougher this thing called jet lag is.
