"Classy Scraps"

Here’s another one that I was able to finish recently from my 2” strips and scraps series of quilts. It’s number 51 in fact.

I started that series back in 2015 and made about 21 quilts each year for the first two years. Then I got sidetracked into other things such as my Upcycled Blues series and other smaller series!

Anyway, here it is!

I was going for a more subtle look with the gray on gray chain. I didn’t use a tremendous amount of scraps in it - and because of that, it didn’t make much of a dent in my 2” strips/scraps. Of course the fact that I often cut more and add them into my bags - I suppose that doesn’t help, does it?

The two blocks that make up the quilt are the ones shown below - a simple chain block and an x block. which is really 4 15 patches made of scraps and black sashings.

I did some hooks and curls type of quilting - like this:

See? It’s that easy! I’ve updated the pattern with new pictures and put it back on the free patterns page for you.

Here is a bit of a close up of the differences in the gray fabrics. In fact, I had to go find some here at a shop in Warsaw - I’ll link it here (just in case you happen to visit Warsaw!) because I really wanted to make this design up but didn’t have any gray that would be the “right” contrast - not too light and not too close to the black. I was glad that Ewa had some in stock that worked perfectly!

I took some early morning pictures, and then some a little bit later in the day. This is one of the early morning ones with the bright sunlight.

My husband’s been tending to the grass this spring and the weather has been beautiful!
