"Sliding Scraps"
This is number 73 in my 2” series. You can see by the leaves on the ground that I actually took these pictures back in October. The problem was that I didn’t have the pattern written - and I’m not even sure why since it isn’t really that hard of a quilt. Just other things to do, I guess…like piece tops!
Getting pictures was a struggle that day, as you can see. But it was a beautiful day!
This quilt uses 3 different main blocks and a sashing and cornerstones to create a bit of the effect that is a bit different than sometimes you see.
The thing that I like about this is by using the tan/taupe color in the middle of the cream, you look and look again. It’s a bit more subtle than it would be if you used a very bold frame on the framed four patches.
Also by using the cream sashing strips, it makes you look again - unlike if I had chosen to use dark sashing strips instead of cream in between the dark blocks. I played around with it quite a while on the EQ program (EQ is Electric Quilt).
For the quilting I did some swirls and curls - bigger than sometimes for these. I’m trying to make them look pretty. Some are nicer than others, naturally. I am confident that someday in the future I will actually be satisfied with my quilting.
Some day.
I did write about the top of this quilt here should you want to go back and read about it there.
Obviously there is a lot here that isn’t 2” scraps - but all the scrappy pieces were straight out of my bags of 2” strips and squares. I just went through and chose the darker ones that seemed to go with this color scheme - golds, not bright yellow, dark reds and not bright orange, etc. Of course, because it is a scrap quilt, I did throw some unexpected things in there - just to use them. I did go through and use some smaller pieces of my pieces for the bigger half square triangles. Obviously I couldn’t get those from my 2” strips.
As usual - the quilt roll!
I hope you’ve enjoyed seeing these pictures of this finished quilt - one that I am actually quite pleased with how it turned out. There are times I am only sort of pleased - but this one I like quite a lot!
But that’s it for today! Off to get some other things done in prep for Christmas!
Oh…the pattern? It’s here.
You’re welcome!
I trust you have a great day wherever you are reading this!
Be sure to check out what my sis has for you in the store!
