2019 Charity quilts 51-60 finished!

Didn’t I tell you that you would get tired of these posts?

I have to put them here, though. They represent hours and hours of work!

Seriously. More than I had written out when I mentioned it after the first week. But I don’t need to go there, right?

You “get it”!

I can do more of these. Many more. I like the style and they will appeal to just about everyone. I think I made about 7 or 8 of these. Whatever I made, it won’t be enough. That much I’m sure of!

Here are the next 10! With these 10 finished, I am officially halfway. But in truth, I have already quilted the next 10 and so only have 50 more to quilt as I write this. So I am definitely on the downhill side! And I am grateful. Oh, and I have more than that sandwiched. As I write this, I have managed to sandwich 102 - I believe - so only 18 more to sandwich to reach my goal of 120 for this calendar year.

I cannot always work with this kind of intensity, though.

My hands don’t want to. I am “feeling” my wrists and I don’t think you are supposed to do that.

I think it is the tension that it is in them from wresting around quilts! Even small ones! By the time I bind them, I am tired - my hands and arms are tired! My body isn’t particularly tired, though!

The darker gray background on that last quilt is because I took the picture before it was dry. I hung it up, took the picture and left it to dry while I went about doing other things.

I’ll need to go get another roll of batting in the next day or two in order to get the last few (18) sandwiched. Then I can go into my son’s old room where these things have been stored and take inventory.

I must evaluate what I already have - and get things ready to go for the next batch which I will tackle after the first of the year. I already have lots of tops - either that I’ve finished or you all have sent me— those are going to take priority before I start finishing up a bunch more from panels and various pieces I have sitting around!

I also will work on putting together backings for them. I’ve been finding that as I’ve been trying to use up the final odd bits and pieces of other backing fabrics, that preparing backings is taking longer than I had planned on - for the current batch of quilts. It’s not a BIG deal - just something to deal with.

Here’s the current status of the project.

Hopefully by the time you actually read this, the two piles of completely finished quilts will be in my van - ready to take to the church building where they will be kept safe and dry and free of cat hair until we give them away!

This week’s finish - a summary shot:

Here’s my question for you.

Do any of you have or use a wrist brace?

I heard one lady mentioning that her wrist was getting sore/tired and she said something about a wrist brace.

If so…where did you find it? Anything special to know? Or maybe it’s better just to “take it easy” a while. Let me know.

Be sure to check out what my sis has for you in the store!
