Cultural: Another trip to the mall!

I’ve started having an aversion to shopping! Seriously. Except for things related to sewing/quilting, the shopping experience has become tedious and “not fun”. Part of that is, our house is full - no more room for things I don’t want or need - so why go look?

Anyway…my husband did need some shoes so we opted to head out about 45 min north of us to the other side of Warsaw where there’s a couple of malls and a huge sporting good store. We needed to find him a pair of shoes that fit him properly. He doesn’t buy many shoes, so I’m not afraid to spend a bit more. He’s picky, and seems to have hard-to-fit feet, though.

Anyway…we went to several places but ended up at a mall called M1 where we headed to a German store called Deichmann.

We went through a door in the mall that we’d never used before - it appeared to be kind of a fire escape door from the outside, but it was close to our car and we took it since we saw other people using it. Wow. As we walked in we saw that the walls were painted all nicely! It was amazing. We noticed bathrooms—so we stopped by.

I know you think that I must have a fixation on bathrooms since I show pictures of them often. It’s just that they are so interesting!

I’ve not seen so nicely painted areas in malls in the states (let me be transparent here - I don’t go to many malls in the USA when we are there!)

It was painted up as if it were a train station. As you are looking down this way, you are actually looking at the door - that you go in and out. I managed to snag a few where there were no people!

It is so cool how it is painted and decorated as if it were a train station.

At least this one had no creepy photos IN the bathroom itself like one of the other ones I wrote about - no one photographing us. But inside the bathroom it was just normal. No flowers on the wall like this one, either!

But that’s okay!

I did get two things for me while we were out - at the sporting goods store (Decathlon).

One was a wrist support - it’s actually a compression thing.

It cost me $5.15 for this little piece of fabric with a hole in it!

and the other some long socks.

I don’t think they are compression, but I’m going to check them out. I’ve noticed when I quilt a long time, that it isn’t good for my feet - and the compression socks make my ankles feel a lot better! (I picked up a pair at the Detroit airport one time when we were there and I adore them!)

I know the best thing for me is to move - and so I try to but I do get involved sometimes for a couple of hours without really doing much but moving in the chair while quilting. Plus it’s winter and my feet always get chilly here in the house. We heat with wood and my husband is comfortable at probably 8 degrees F cooler than I am!

But the wrist support is my level 1 attempt at solving the problem of my wrist aching after I quilt and bind 10 charity quilts in two days. :) I’ll try it first. If it doesn’t work, then I’ll advance to an actual brace. Of course, just taking it easy would help as well!

I’ll let you know what happens!

There was my adventure for the day!

We actually did find my husband a pair of shoes. We think the problem is, he has wide feet - which we didn’t actually realize until now. For a man his height (6’1”), his feet aren’t very long - mine are actually longer than his - we measured them at the sporting good store in one of those feet measurers.

Have a great day wherever you are reading this!

Be sure to check out what my sis has for you in the store!
