"Impressionist Wreaths" - finished!

Yes - it is all done!

This one is number 76 in that 2” series I’ve got going on.

Kachelofen

I had come up with several tops over the summer and decided that I don’t want to get too far behind with the quilting, so in between the charity quilting, I’m trying to go ahead and quilt some of the tops that are already sitting around.

The interesting thing about this top is that it is the exact same block as found in the quilt number 52 - or Kachelofen. That one looks like this: It’s on point and has side setting triangles.

I had already shown the quilt top before and the pattern - but this time I finished it - washed it and took pictures!

This is a pretty straight-forward quilt - meaning no sashing, no borders. ONLY blocks!

The quilt is vibrant - the colors hard for me to capture correctly though!

I wanted to do the quilt justice with the pictures! I think I did. It’s bright. It’s pretty! And it’s very scrappy!

It’s so simple -

I threw in a lot of red to keep the interest level high. I’ve noticed that I like this kind of quilt a lot better when there is red in it - a lot of red but not all red, obviously!

I was playing around with the block and decided to change the colors - and the direction the blocks are lying - this diagram is more like Kachelofen - on point, but I took out the bright reds. I still think it looks neat - just very different.

To me the one in this diagram looks like an ethnic design! :) Somewhere in Africa, maybe. Seems like I’ve seen something like it somewhere. LOL

Anyway…….

I knew the quilt was so busy that the quilting would not show up anyway to speak of, so I just did loops. I’m glad I didn’t even attempt to do anything fancier - there is just so much color and variations of it all that I think it would have been a waste of time to do something else.

I did it on my Janome 8900, like I’ve been doing on all of these lately.

Since I got it back the last time from the shop, where they replaced some part underneath the needle, it has been working very, very well - probably like it should have from the beginning — but I had issues from the get go.

I am not advertising for Janome - I am also NOT dissing them - but the machine is working well now - all that I had hoped for it to do.from the beginning - unfortunately I had to send it back for repairs every few months - when they finally replaced a part underneath in the feed dog area it was fixed correctly.

The machine was having its last chance with me as I was getting ready to sell it but then I needed to send my 12000 in for a checkup, so I unboxed it - I hadn’t opened it after I got it back from the repair people as I was just going to unbox it long enough to make a sample on fabric and then advertise it and sell it.

I had figured it would do the same thing again - work okay for 2 days and then start messing up again (it didn’t want to let me use the single hole plate with FMQ - kept getting an error message so I had to use the zig zag plate) and skipped stitches when going over seams while quilting (!) - but NO, THIS time, it worked great - better than ever before!

ANYWAY…I don’t want to waste any more time thinking about the past troubles with my machine - those days are thankfully behind me!

The day I took these pictures there was a variety of levels of sunshine. Plus, I was playing around with the exposures on the settings of the camera.

I need to learn more about how to use it better (Canon G7X). I do like it a lot, but know that I know almost nothing about how to really use it! Sadly.

I think this is a very pretty quilt! It is one I really like how it turned out.

I’ll give this one a 9/10. That’s my own, very nonobjective based rating - it’s all very fluid. :) If I were a student and my teacher did that, I’d be furious!
