White Tiger panel quilt top - queen size

My nephew really wanted a quilt made out of the white tiger panel that my sis has.

So, I was kind of “instructed” to make one for Peter!

“Yes, my dear sis, I’ll do it! But you have to send me all the fabrics!”

So she did.

I really didn’t know what to do. Finally I decided that I just really needed to “just do it”.

And so this is what I came up with. I took all the fabrics that my sis sent me - 3 of them are Grunge, one is a Hoffman coordinate and others including that amazing animal skin, and then the panel. I added my own black and she sent me a solid blue. There were a couple of other fabrics I decided not to use.

And I made this top. It’s queen size.

This one is 90”x106”.

What I did was work up several plans and ask my sis which one I should make up for Peter.

Let me show you what I did. These are some of the ones I asked her to choose from. We decided on “less black” because the room where he is is a bit dark.

The other ones were all variation of these 4 different settings. I think I sent her 7. Some had more small black lines in them and some fewer.

As of my writing this blog post, I have actually finished the quilt, so the picture shown above will be sufficient as I’ll show the finished quilt in a few days.

This Hoffman white tiger panel is amazing. It is part of the Call of the Wild series and is $12.99. If you have a tough to please “customer” (guy/gal/old/young!) consider something like this!

The Grunge my sis sent went with the panel very well. She also sent me that Andover animal skin print. I used all of it that she sent me - every bit of it - well, I think I have a scrap piece and a strip that is 2.5” wide leftover. All in all, in this top., I used a Hoffman panel and coordinate fabric, Moda Grunge, Andover animal skin, a solid - I believe it is her KOS equivalent, and then my Polish black. On the back I used a navy storm clouds design and then because my piece of backing wasn’t big enough, I put a strip of gray in the middle to stretch it. I think it had no name on the selvage.

(When my sis isn’t looking and I’m in FL, I kind of just “take” the storm clouds pieces that are leftover - under 3 yards) and let them jump into my suitcase and come home to Poland with me. I used one of those pieces. I really love that design and the feel of the fabric!)

So, this quilt top is quite a hodge podge. I hope my nephew likes it!

I did go ahead and use cotton batting in it because he is in FL and it isn’t as warm as poly and I had some I wanted to use up.

So there you are! A finished top. If any of you think you could use something like this written up as a pattern, just indicate so, and I can. It is mostly borders. The one “block” I used was the hardest part of the whole thing! I am feeling a sense of relief to having this one finished.
